Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

New ceramic front rotors are a nice gift. Glad to hear it was that and not something else.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

So, may I ask, the problem are the rotors and "modified" new rotors are installed or - like reginos said - some metal piece somehow damaged the rotors ?

My current rotors are completely safe to drive with but the noise could "cover" other (possible) noises, "covering" other (possible) issues which could occur at some point. This is why we decided to have them exchanged.

Right now however, we aren't quite sure about the issue at hand. The noise appears when driving slow (for example entering a parking lot), not when braking. This is something we need to figure out before we exchange the rotors for nothing.  Tomorrow I'm going to be back to the dealership, so my mechanic can check the noise himself. Yesterday, a "new guy" checked on the noise and I actually did the diagnosis myself because he didn't have a clue about the PCCB or the new service information. When I got home, I realized that the noise actually appears during driving and not braking, so... Smiley Talked to my mechanic on the phone and he still thinks it is the PCCB but we need to make sure of it.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I know for a fact that the 991 Turbo S was "properly" engineered and developed. The PCCB issue seems to be a minor annoyance but of course it shouldn't happen, especially not on a car for 203k EUR (value of my 991 Turbo S).

I already had a couple of software updates for my Jeep GC SRT, which isn't really an issue for me because I have software updates for my smartphones, tablets, even my TV, so no big deal here. I just wish the software updates wouldn't always require a dealer visit.  This is one reason I love Jeep: The entertainment system (Uconnect) can be updated by the customer and just today, I downloaded the latest software for it. Quite customer friendly (unless of course something goes wrong ).

Yeah we have a 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid which has Microsoft Sync.  I'm not the biggest fan of it, but at least it auto updates.

Hardly... it's not that fast.  :)  It's a 2 liter hybrid!  But it's actually quite nice inside and a great value.  Luckily my fiancee isn't very much into cars... I'm the crazy one in the relationship!  :)

Other cars cut corners, while Porsche doesn't, when it comes to sudden price hike followed by recalls on a complete engine replacement, now the pccb and headlights popping out on hard brakes....too much to list, I'm staying quiet for now and hope they sort it out  Smiley

Shit happens. There have been recalls with Porsches since forever. Nothing changed except for the Internet spreading the "disasters" faster Smiley

However, these recalls are nothing compared to other brands. Some of the worst are, maybe not surprisingly, from the US. Countless dead before anyone reacts and then tens or hundreds of thousands cars recalled. There is a list online for recalls, it is worth checking out for your next purchase.

I like the styling of this car (sans the stripes). More special than the factory original.

Not sure about today, but in 2006 they did 0-100 in 1.7 sec - my guess is they're still much faster than 2.65.

That looks like Signal Green, which was a standard colour on back in the late 1970s. I drove a 924 in that colour AND I managed to sell it.  Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Similar to Signal Green, but a bit more luminous.  Had a 1969 991S in Signal Green, with black Porsche lettering below doors.  Had it tuned and could reach 167 mph on an empty highway.  Loved that car….

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

It's Viper Green, a PCNA car at the Monterey PCA Parade. There's a thread about it at the Rennlist forums in the 911 section.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Signal and Viper green are great hystorical colours but in my opinion none of the two suits the 991 body.  I saw various 991s in pastel colors such as Riviera, Signal, Gulf and was not really impressed. I think metallic colors work much better on the 991.

Tomorrow I am going to pick up my car, the repairs have been finished and yes, the PCCB front rotors were to blame (funny, mine were making noises even without braking Smiley). The noise is gone, I got new rotors (which I now need to "brake in" again) but I cannot really say that I feel happy about it. Oh well... Smiley

The sound symposer service action is still due, they couldn't go through with it because the part(s) are on backorder. Oh boy...we are talking a 203k EUR car here and the service action is well known for weeks now. Not that it really matters but time is money and it isn't easy for me to visit the dealer over and over again.

At least I didn't have to get the engine replaced. Smiley Smiley Sorry for this snippy comment but I am not used to having issues with my Porsche car(s).

Thanks for the info - I would suggest to take your kids out for an ice cream at lake garda over the weekend...you would get some quality time with your kids, you would get the opportunity to align your new brakes and, if I may say so, you should treat yourself with a lot of icecream to ease off your mind and to get Porsche addicted again...Smiley Smiley

Smiley I've been to Lake Garda last week, so no need to go back that fast (even if I really loved it).

We had a wonderful time on the lake (see photo), lots of friends and beautiful weather. Smiley

Btw: The boat had the same power (2 x 280 hp) my Turbo S has. Smiley

Smiley C'mon...a little bit of showing off never hurt anybody. Smiley

I love Lake Garda. Very nice region, not too expensive, very good food, very nice people and sometimes you can see the most beautiful cars driving around. Have I mentioned that it is only 400 km away from my hometown? Smiley

Btw: I'm not really used to such long boats (this one had almost 10 meters), I usually drive boats around 6 meters or so. Also, this was the first time I drove a boat with a twin engine setup. You don't want to know how difficult it was for me to enter the port and land (park) this little fellow. Everybody said I did well but I know they lied. Smiley At least I didn't cause any damage. Smiley
