    Christian,

The specs of new 991 Turbo S are 3.1 from 0-100 and 10.3 from 0-200. But you mentioned that in reality it will br faster than 3 secs from 0-100 and 10 secs from 0-200. So is it still so?

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

SportCarGroup's more angular side vent looked much more attractive than the final product from Porsche. I'll withhold final judgment however until we have more than a few passing glimpses...

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

But vent is still a major improvement.  And this car is a BEAST.  My neck is already feeling the G forces.

Almost a sinister, menacing look., especially from the rear.  Clearly leaving unnoticeable territory.

What a fantastic rear! Makes J Lo look bony- assed

I really like the width. What I don't like is the shape of the exhausts. Why not just put some simple round exhaust pipes?

Any opinions as to when the 991 GTS variant would be introduced? After seeing the GT3 (no manual) and the Turbo, I am thinking the GTS could very well be the best 991 ovearll.

I live now in NYC and frankly I have no use for a Turbo plus I really dislike how it looks, The new GT3 I love, but I like manual cars,  (yes its not progress, its old technology but cumbustion engines are too and I happen to like them Smiley....)

A 991 GTS would have a near GT3 feel with stick, keep the beautiful 911 shape untouched and you could even get it convertible......sounds like a winner to me Smiley

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

If Porsche holds true to form, the 991 GTS will might be introduced sometime around mid-life of the 991 variant.  Hopefully, my estimate is wrong. The 997 GTS is a great car. I would consider buying a pre-owned 997 GTS.

Porsche should make the GTS a regular 911 model, not an end of production special. They have already done the same with the Cayenne and now with the Turbo S, models that were made in limited production in the past.

Abolish the Powerkit option on the S and offer a widebody RWD model with extra PS plus some chassis options as standard and name it GTS. Do it in both PDK and Manual to keep everybody happy.

This car is a good direction for Porsche, creating more differentiation between Turbo and Carrera models.  Maybe it has a few design elements that irk folks here, but overall the car is a strong design, very aggressive, and I would rather see Porsche take some design risks than simply create a Turbo that is only 'evolutionary".

Compared to the 996 and 997 generation turbos, this is far more distinctive and different compared to their Carrera counterparts.  i predict this car will be be a brilliant success.

2.7 and 9.5 seconds (0-100/0-200 kph) according to the best figures achieved from a stock test car but I don't know if these claims are true (I like to believe they are) and it is also possible that Porsche didn't want to brag about performance too much since we have a very problematic environment over here in Germany right now regarding fast and especially expensive cars.

well i still think a performance of about 7 secs 100-200kmh isnt any special today. the only thing witch helps is more power probably 560 hp isnt enough. Expecting new rs6 plus, (rumors 600hp) bmw m6 competitonen package (580-590hp) . They woulnd be far behind  this time. And 0-100 is just useless, unless you like the "ampel races"...

100-250 is much more real world in Germany, istnt it. So i personaly hoped there would be a higher hp output for turbo/S. Not forgetting mclaren 625 hp (sport auto had the 600hp version), new Gallardo will hit the market sure 600+ and Ferrari wouldnt sleep either..

Remember the 997 Turbo S? I do not know many cars right now which can actually beat the 997 Turbo S, especially regarding straight line acceleration. The 991 Turbo S will be faster.

I agree...I would have wanted the super duper mega fast 991 Turbo S with 800 hp and 350 kph top speed but remember the 918? Well...Porsche needs to leave a performance gap between the upcoming 991 GT2 RS and the 918 too, so the 991 Turbo S fits just perfectly.

I real world comparisons, I think that the new 991 Turbo S will surprise here and there. Smiley

Well...I guess I am going to be the guinea pig...if the deal goes through, I get the Turbo S on the first day of presentation but I get the feeling that the dealer is going to need the car for the presentation show.

Hi RC -- just wondering what you're expecting to see unveiled for the 50th anniversary of the 911 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013, given that we've already seen the 991 Turbo S and 991 GT3.

A few of the options for Porsche to maximise their exposure at the Frankfurt Motor Show...

    • Porsche 991 50th Anniversary Model -- Limited Edition Special
    • Porsche 991 GT3 RS -- Homologation for 991 GT3 RSR
    • Porsche 991 Targa -- Retro Style
    • Porsche Cayman GT -- New Halo Model
    • Porsche 918 Spyder -- Production Specification
    • Porsche 960 Coupe -- Design Prototype
    • Porsche LMP1 -- Le Mans Prototype
    • Porsche Macan -- New Model

...looking forward to a spectacular Porsche celebration! Smiley

Car manufacturers must privately laugh their asses off reading and listening to customers talk about performance. They know we will never use the performance parameters they build into the car but nevertheless we pay through the nose for them.

What a racket! Cater to our manliness/vanity to pick our wallets. Smiley

Very true. After 4 years of driving a Cayenne TTS, I am seriously rethinking the whole power thing. The progress made in auto tranny with the new 8 speed trounces the extra power in terms of fun for everyday driving.

Also driving a Panamera was kind of an eye opener how good Ferrari can be for driving pleasure as the Panamera destroys the 612 on paper yet can't come even close to the fun it procures.

When you see the premium Porsche charges to go from a "s" to a "turbo" or from "turbo" to "turbo S", it is ridiculous especially for the speed challenged US.

Can not agree more and part of the reason why I remain a proponent of manual transmissions for "sports" cars.
