    Pirelli

Got a new set this week - the car came with Michi PS'2. Think the P's feel better on the road. Not sure about grip yet but road noise levels are down and ride comfort is DEFINITELY better for Japan roads!

    Re: Pirelli

Please keep us posted as to your experience with the Pirelli's. I for one would like to know how they perform, both at speed (if it's possible) and in the wet.

I once had a set of Pirelli's for a Ford Taurus SHO that I had, and they were incredible, very smooth at high speed and giving great traction in the rain. Only problem was that they expanded, circumference-wise, at high speeds and understated my true speed by 3 mph when doing 75 mph or more. Of course, these were on 16 inch wheels, and the P-cars have 18's or 19's and this problem is a lot less likely.

    Re: Pirelli

Although I am not comparing apples to apples, I've had two sets of Pirelli Scorpion S/T tires on the Range Range. Last Saturday it was time to replace them (thanks to a nail speeding up the process) but alas the S/T have been discontinued. I ended up buying a set of Pirelli Scorpion STR tires. They seem fine, very low road noise.

I know there is a difference between a high performance tire and an SUV tire but I like Pirelli.

Pirelli did a great job recently, tyres like the P Zero, P Zero Rosso and now the (unutterable ) P Zero Hero are really fantastic.

    Re: Pirelli

Realize that it's natural for your brand new tires to be quieter, grippier and softer-riding than your outgoing worn tires... Is your memory really so good that you have discerned that a new set of PZ's are truly better than a new set of Pilots?

You are probably right! Will give you my opinion in 5,000 Km or so!

I will definitely keep everyone posted. Its only on sites like Rennteam we get real life experiences - the dealers only tell you what they've read in the sales blurb (in Japan it feels that way)

    Re: Pirelli

I got Pzero Rossos with my 997s and just replaced the rears (after about 14k miles or so). No complaints; good traction in the wet and little road noise. Would be nice to get more steering feedback but I think that's the PASM or whatever its called combined with the cheapo-ish dampers they give you.

WHY didn't I get the Sports suspension?

    Re: Pirelli

You can improve your turn in with the proper alignment. I did just that! Have the front camber set to about max which is -1.0 and the rears set at -1.5 and you will notice a sharper steering car.

    Re: Pirelli

Thanks Mike. Will ask them to do that.

    David.

    Re: Pirelli

I too need to replace my rear tires on my S Cab after 13k. The car came with Pirreli's and, except for the wear life of the tire, I am extremely happy with them.

Doesn't Pirreli have a new P Zero out with 25% better wear life? I heard that somewhere and wasn't sure if they have made it stateside yet.

    Re: Pirelli

Not sure - haven't heard anything I'm afraid. I have a good acquaintance in Italy who knows someone in Pirelli - I could see if he could find out if you like? Can't promise anything though!

    SoS.

    Re: Pirelli

Thanks SoS, what ever you can find would be great. I called my Porsche dealer and his tire rep was not extremely knowledgeable only to say that they are "improved" over the last model. They are also on a national backorder so can't tell if that's from tight supply or popularity.

    Re: Pirelli

How about Pirellis to replace Michelin Sport Cup tires on the GT3? I checked Tirerack for PS2s and they were out of the fronts. Maybe Pirelli would be a better option anyway?
