Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

That would be me dream . Do my own Singer , choose the color . Luckily my budget is not free for that , so I will not get mad trying to find the perfect non metalic old fashion slightly faded color indecision

Looking forward to your choice ! Congratulations

    Crayphile,

Congrats on your decision, and on the means to achieve it!  I am sure that your car will be a quality asset that will give you pleasure for years.

I'm drawn to that "leaf green" above and the "radium green" as well.  For curvaceous, historic vehicles I really love muted tones for some reason.  Just me though...

Side question here: do they have the option to hinge the rear side windows?

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

I've never seen a pale orange that looks good. I'd also suggest being wary of how some colours could/will end up looking on the car. The original 911 wore solid colours very well due to all the decorative brightwork on the bumpers, and sills which helped balance out the largely unreflective large block of solid colour. The impact bumper cars were not as able to get away with this due to the brightwork being replaced by black plastic trim which did not contrast nearly as well with many of the solid colours.

The Singer has brightwork on the upper half of the car but none on the bumpers or sills and this means some solid colours don't suit it as well as they did the original 911. These photo's of an original Signal Orange car and a Singer in an olive green shade illustrate this point well. The Singer isn't helped by the wheel colour choice either IMHO. It would have looked more balanced with the anodised petals on the centre of the Fuchs wheels.

Though a cool vintage blue hasn't been done I don't think and would look great with a brown or historically correct dark red interior.

Classic combo. As a rule of thumb if I go loud on the exterior of a car then I go quiet on the interior. The Singer may be the exception given the uniqueness of the interior whereby one can go loud outside and unusual/ quirky on the inside.

    Joost:

How about this color combination? I have always loved it!
I think it is the same color as can be seen on Robert Redford's 912 in the movie "Spygames"?

When I think about classic 911 I always think about this movie! Smiley

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

An absolute dream Crayphile! I've visited the guys in Cali as well, been staring at Futch's Singer and couldn't stay away from the yellow Singer at Goodwood this year. They're absolute jewels, I adore them.

I'd look for either a pastel'ish color or a variation on the British Racing Green-theme, it would be extra cool that it's a British-car in that case. Inside obviously depending on outside color, but a dark-brown with orange stitching would be my preferred choice.

Mechanically, a 4.0, central fuel filler, no rear seats and body colored/naked rear 'bench' and a full cage, welded and finished in leather. I verified in case my dream would become reality, they do that if requested. smiley

Some great color samples in this thread.  I like that Azure Blue one.  Here is a nice Brewster Green 993 TTS:

I agree on the "pastel'ish" point  - that's the way to go. The way I think of it over and above the classic Porsche elements discussed above is 25 years from now, what is the colour or colour palette that you would think of when Singer is mentioned which again pushes towards solid and pastel type colours.  Never been a fan of British Racing green though . Still undecided on naked bench versus leather  - in the end this will be dictated by the colour choice on the exterior. The leather roll cage is a must as you say. We may have been drooling over the Goodwood cars at the same time!

Thanks, and what would you say the red colour in the background is?

The issue I have with this color when it is not in metallic format, is that it makes the car look almost like a military vehicle.

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

congrats....that surely will be one hell of a joyride....not just the final product but the whole experience...

i vouvh for green as well. some sort of Viper green.

Indeed they do  - a lot of it. But it would have been a shame not to tap the extraordinary passion & knowledge on this board as well Smiley I like the idea of doing something that has not been done before as well.

    And Ivory or Cream white?

We thought about Cream white when we refurbished our 356. But we then went back to the Classic-white - which is not as a white as a piece of paper but a tone more creamy.

Today I'm very happy I didnt choose cream - I think classic white looks more clean and in the sun the car pops out much better

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

    Mithras:

Personally I would go with Ice Green Metallic. It was a '70's Porsche colour but a quite rare one. It would be nearly impossible for a modern car to be painted that way now-a-days and the colour is closer to the liquid metallic 918s. Very deep, lots of nuance, subtle but very striking at the same time.

Oh, this one is nice. Smiley

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

It has to be a flat color and it has to be pastel on the Singer . Only exception would be the Viper or speed green or a black .

But I would probably go for a ' pastel ' . They suit the Singer so good and are a rare sight .
