PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

I just bought a second hand 997S and PCM-NAVI-stereo always when i turn off the engine return to the previous owner settings.

    Somebody help me Please!!!

    thanks in advance

Re: PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

The settings may be locked in to the key. Read the section in the owners manual on how to make key dependent selections.

Re: PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

    I agree with Steve.

Thanks SMF, you may have solved one of my little PITA problems too. Preesheeateit.

Re: PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

The keys are not the problem (or the solution). If you have Sport Chrono, the PCM gives you access to various settings for PCM at start-up, lights, etc. If you do NOT have Sport Chrono, these optional settings must be entered by the dealer.

    hey Bill,

The thing that confuses me is that there are a couple of things that CAN be changed by the non-SChrono.PRoblem is when you change them they say "in fifteen minutes" the change will be entered. Then when you come back in 30 minutes it's the same @#$% thing you thought you changed!

I have Sport Chrono, so I can only really comment on what I can see/do on my car. It may be that the message you are getting relates to dealer controlled parameters. Although, you would think they would indicate this.

The electronics on this car are quite extensive and in some ways a bit over done, in my opinion. The control modules are made by Delphi, who have just filed for Chapter 11. I hope they are still around to support these systems in the future.

Re: PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

Guys I visited twice Porshe Dealer in Athens and they dont know what to do with my problem.
In detail every time i store Greek radio stations, change language from german to english (PCM and Board computer) the minute I turn off the car and pull out the key every setting is lost even the time. when I start the car again everything is in german, the preset radio stations belong to the previous owner and time and language becimes german.
The dealer said he's going to call germany and ask what to do. He said maybe we have to replace PCM. what do you think????

Im realy sad about all this things and i have the car only 4 days
    PLEASE HELP

Re: PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

Could be a non-volatile memory problem in the PCM, which would require its being replaced.

Re: PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

Somewhere hidden in the PCM's menues there is a Reset to Factory Settings menu item. Try that before entering new settings, maybe that helps.

You could also try the PCM reset. Simultaneously press 1, 4 and 8 on the PCM's keypad until the PCM's screen goes dark. When switch it on again and enter new settings.

It could also be a low battery voltage problem.

Re: PCM problem. Doesnt keep my settings

Good luck with that frickin POS. I HATE mine; very big PITA software and an almost useless 230page manual (two hundred thrity!). I would like to fire the people who developed and approved it.
