    aftermarket exhausts

Is there consensus as to which exhaust systems are best suited to the 997 turbo? First concern is about warning lights and the warranty, second about sound. Anybody? I saw a post saying the tubi caused some problems. How about fabspeed, AWE tuning, Tubi exhausts, anyone? Thanks!

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

go back thru the posts from the last 6mo. or so and you will be able to evaluate for yourself the sounds that are available and what the respective owners thought about the systems they ultimately selected....when it comes to these systems you get what you pay for and cheap isnt a good thing.

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

The dealer said AWE was 'good' - I agree that you get what you pay for, but Tubi is not an inexpensive product and it seems to cause warning lights (?). I read that Fabspeed seems very 'loud.' Thats about all I could find about 'exhaust' systems in the search. Sorry Im a newbie to this - the videos don't give an objective opinion from users. Finally - is the exhaust note on the turbo really unacceptable??

Yes, the stock exhaust note is unacceptable. I have a Cargraphic loud version and love it. Check out the sound clip here:

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

I have to agree with you - its the first time i am hearing cargraphic and it sounds far better than anything. I live in the Northeast of the US and will have to find a place that sells & installs it...

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

I agonized over this decision and settled on the Cargraphic LOUD. I heard it on a another car and I must say it is loud, but with a light foot it can be acceptable while sneaking into your neighborhood in the dead of night. They also make a version that is about 2 Db quieter, which offers only slightly less of a HP increase. I have mine in the garage waiting for the car to show up. The workmanship is excellent. The U.S. distributor is Road Sport Supply in California. Do a Google search to get their number and give Greg a call he can give you the details. Possibly your dealer will install it for you. Mine will. (About 5 hours labor.)

I am in the minority on this one and with only 300 miles on the car my feelings could change but so far the exhaust sounds perfect, not too loud and not to quiet. It also sounds a lot like an air cooled Porsche of the past. This is coming from a guy who had a 997S and upgraded to the sport exhaust within 3 months of ownership. I can't help but think that Porsche may have made a change regarding the exhaust note with all the complaints since its inception in 06? Maybe not but time will tell if this is just my imagination or not? Any others with recent deliveries feel the same way? Just curious?

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

Has anyone heard the new TechArt exhaust??? I hear it is awesome to some but very loud to others.....I have not heard it myself but I plan to put it on my TTCAB when it gets in. Any opinions on that???

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

    Here are some examples.

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

I have Fabspeed exhaust with EVO headers, not too loud and no resonance. Love the sound (this is the way a turbo should sound!!), especially the gurggle sounding when off the gas and engine is dropping in rpm thru the 4K to 2K range. Suncoast in Sarasota, Fl did the install, they are a EVO & Fabspeed dealer. I'm sure all the top name exhaust systems sound much better than stock.

Everything I have read and heard states that all three Cargraphic systems offer the same power increase and only the noise level is different.

RC, can you comment on this?

    Thanks Jamie
Judging by these videos my vote for best sound goes to Milltek.

    Re: aftermarket exhausts

Have to agree the Milltek sounds great!

If anyone has a video/audio sample of the DMS exhaust that would be a big help too...
