    500 miles for lunch

still working on the break in. my catholic school mentality insures that i'm doing it like the manual says. so far at 1000 miles it still hasen't used any oil or the guage stuff is broken.

on this latest soiree we went to durango co. had lunch at the palace hotel. for those interested in this sort of stuff southwest colorado offers some of the very best great driving opportunities..imo. one of my favorites is the san juan skyway that involves big time mountains with lots of long sweeping curves as well as tight curveys and straights basically something for everyone on quality asphalt. going early a.m. makes it the most fun.

the route goes thru several senic and fun mountain towns that passengers would enjoy. these include silverton, ouray, and telluride . the colorado grande has done this a few times, it's a different sort of fun after it snows which it can do in sept, or not.

as i drive the tt more i'm convinced that if you enjoy getting out and going places it's just about perfect. my thing is being able to pass quickly and safely which it does nicely with it's hands tied. i.e. toyota pirus buried my ass going home.

it's also fun visiting with other car guys that know what it is. they never seem to have the assumption that your richy rich . if your looking for a babe magnet car i'm pretty sure this isn't gonna work as well as something from more southern latitudes.

lets see, really liking the adaptive seats which are seem to be back pain free after all day. enough room for in car stuff. still convinced that short shifter 6spd. works best for me due to the fun factor. based on a trial run the heated seats are the best i've ever had. the 3m clear bra insures that things clean up to new after a day of crushing bugs... i guess the frosting on the cake for me is that my very non-car person wife is content to go places in the tt even without the room other alternatives in the garage.

Nice! is the ride height a bit higher in the US than Europe?

    Re: 500 miles for lunch

    Thanks for sharing.

Last year I went to that part of Colorado not driving a Porsche but a big motorhome unfortunately and I really found it very nice.

Actually I'm planning on going back there ....

    Enjoy your new toy ....

    Re: 500 miles for lunch

fortunately.. no my son lives and works in durango as a real estate broker , and the bike was early for this weekends motorcycle festivities.

as to the ride height us. vs. everywhere else i'm not sure. i do know that if it was any lower in front it would require extreme vigilance to keep from trashing the lower apron, that porsche thoughtfully made easily replaceable.. at a cost i'm sure none of us wants to know. the l-car guys got it right with a height adjustable front end.. .thanx to all of you for your intrest in my p-fun

According to the Product Information Guide, The 997TT ground clearance is the same for all cars (US, ROW). The 996TT was 20mm lower for ROW compared to the US.
