I guess the V12-hype should come down after a while, as always...

    Re: 599 lead times

I am consider a goiod client and was quote one year. The 599 has generated probably the most positive reviews than any car in many years. There is no hype. It will be in great demand for quite awhile.

    Re: 599 lead times

Nick are you going to get one? no LP640?

I was tempted but decided a front engine car is not sporty enough for me. I realize the 599 probably will out perform the 430 but it strikes me as a car caught between a sport car and a sedan.Trying to blend the two just does not resonant with me.

LP640 looks like it will be a great car but my mind is on the 430 replacement. I suspect information on the car will begin to trickle out about this time next year.

A 599 not sporty enough for you, and a 430 SPIDER is
If you want it very mutch sporty than you should have hold your coupe.
and of course, it's not because the poor resale value

    Re: 599 lead times

Couldnt agree more, the 599 surely performs well but the F430 is DEF. sportier, even if not by numbers...much more nimble...handling etc will be better, along with braking i expect...

Well, there are not so many secrects, except for the final (new) design. But from the engine we can expect the forthcoming 4.7l-V8 from Maserati. So if you combine this with the current power output, we can expect something like 535 hp. Also the magnetic ride system of the 599 most probably will be introduced in the "F470 Monza" (?).

    Re: 599 lead times

ALfa Romeo presented the final vertion from the 8C yesterday and it uses a V8 4,7cc so ... i read that the new 430 will use the same engine but with 4,5cc .

    Re: 599 lead times

I very much doubt that Ferrari will introduce the 430 replacement with hp lower than 550.

    Re: 599 lead times

Could be as low as 530... They just need to top 997TT S and R8 V10.

Problem for F is what hp will the new Gallardo get when the R8 V10 will be out?

Then please explain, HOW they want to get 550 horses out of 4.7 litres?

Like rosso nuvola said, I also heard something about a little bit smaller capacity for the V8 in the Ferrari models compared to Maserati. So the task gets even more difficult.

    Re: 599 lead times

That's 117 bhp per litre. A bit more than the GT3 has. Certainly doable, but why would Ferrari up the ante more than it needs to? The 430 is practically as fast as the Turbo, faster than the Gallardo and they also need to be careful of the higher-priced 599. I think your estimates of 535 bhp are more in line with the actual numbers we'll be seeing.

    Re: 599 lead times

It's just me speculating but , it would be better if they used the same engine from the 430 (its not old!) and spend a lot of time on the height and aerodinamics this is something were Audi for example can not compete.

    Re: 599 lead times

The HP was upped on the 430 at the last minute to compete with the Gallardo. It's hard to say what they'll do for the next car and even that could change.

Well, basically they use the same engine, just with a little bit more capacity.

But as history taught us, we can expect an all new car with a relatively mild power upgrade. Just as Ferrari did in the past:
348 -> 355 : same car, but massive power increase and much technical improvement
355 -> 360 : all new car, alu chassis, but only little bit more power, basically the same engine
360 -> 430 : same car, but all new engine, big power increase, manettino
430 -> 4?? : all new car, same engine, mild power increase

    etc. pp. ...

In the past it looks like Ferrari comes out with a new body style with a carry over motor and then with their-mid model face lift, a new up graded motor. It may be lack of r&r dollars at play.

I believe today it all depends on what the direct competion will do with their own HP figures. There was talk of the Gallardo coming out with 580 HP, up from their 520 HP. If that happens you can bet that Ferrari will not be far behind.

    Isn't competion great

You are absolutely right. We would have never seen 490 hp in the F430 (as well as 480 hp in the 997tt BTW), if there hadn't been a Gallardo with 500 hp as direct competitor. My guess would have been around 460 hp for the Modena successor. Only because Lamborghini offering so much more, moreover in a car like the Gallardo which can be seen as the ONLY REAL oppononent to the V8-Ferrari, Ferrari had to react with something close to 500 horses.

So it all depends, how much power the next generation Gallardo will have. My prediction for the F430 successor with around 535 hp was based on the assumption, that the Lamborghini will have around 550 hp, as already has been rumoured. But of course if they will bring 580 horses in the small Lambo, Ferrari has to react with something like 560 hp, what would be absolutely great for the customers.

    Re: 599 lead times

Yesterday, I drove the 599 on the SPA F1 race track.
And was passenger with a test driver.
Man, this is ONE HELL OF A CAR !!
Incredible, it was faster than all F430's on the track !!
road (track) handling (and SPA is VERY demanding) was fabulous !

    a realy GREAT car !!
    It's a

    Re: 599 lead times

If Ferrari brings their next model with so much HP then it makes sense the rumurs about a new small Ferrari...it will get to a point were there is just to much HP

The small Ferrari is no longer a rumour.
