    Agreed!

    Black or red roof?

red roof everytime .. it picks out the interior, the brake calipers and the red rear lights.

also if the roof is down, you will have silver/black/silver/red (these 3 colours do not go so close together) instead of silver/red/silver/red.

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

What is your guys' opinion on the color of the side inlet insert?
I played around with the car configurator a bit for fun. Normally I am a fan of black or dark grey cars, and then the color of the inlet insert is not so important. However, the new Boxster looks so gorgeous in white, and then the inlet color is pretty important for the overall looks... any opinions?

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

I may have the side inlet painted in the same red as the brake calipers ...

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

Even in my 987 the plastic air intakes looks terrible. I ordered this piece of plastic in black (black Boxster). Much better.

    The new intakes are worse.

My 981 will have painted air intakes and rollbars. Still don’t know if it will be necessary to order paint mirrors and lower rear part, depends on the color (Not decided yet).

Does anybody know if it is possible to order these parts paint-to-sample?

Not  to my taste. My view is that the less attention drawn to the inlets the better. However, that is just my opinion and taste. Each one is different!Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

The RS60 Spyder really does look fabulous in that classic colour combination! And your right about the red roof looking great.

I went to the Geneva Motor Show in March to see the new car and was really impressed by the Red Leather interior. At first I thought it would be too much red but was not the case for my taste, it really felt special. Now debating about the black 20" wheels or the 20" Classic Carrera option... another difficult choice! Initially I had opted for an all black interior so the black wheels probably made more sense.

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

I totally agree... the quality of the side intake plastic is really poor. It looks really cheap and it was a big surprise to me when I saw the cars at Geneva and earlier this month at the Silverstone UK preview event. I think the matt dark grey plastic they used is really obvious against any of the exterior colours. Though I have not yet seen a Boxster in Agate grey to comment on that. On the one hand it's great that the air intakes are black, large and really visible as it makes the car look more muscular but on the other it's really a shame that the quality of the plastic is not up to scratch. I asked my dealer to add the option of having the outer intake plastic in the exterior colour (Platinum Silver). The very inside is still black plastic but not so visible. I think this will really help but it is a shame that it will probably give the appearance of the side intakes being smaller. That said if you see the air intakes on a 911 turbo they are also body coloured.

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

so what colour roof are you going for?

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

I checked out some pics of the RS60 Spyder with the black roof (I guess this must have been an option) against those with the red. For sure the Red does look better with the rest of the car. If Is stick with the red interior I think it will have to be a red roof Smiley. What is the up keep and durability of the Red roof like by the way. Never had issues with black but imagine the red if difficult to keep clean?

I had my RS60 for nearly 4 years, and 29k miles. It was garaged.

The roof needed an ocassional wash .. best done by driving in heavy rain.

I cleaned and re water proofed it once.

Only downside is that there was very light edge 'staining' (not noticeable, unless you are staring at it) where the fabric folds near the rear window.

I have the same thing on mine, however I wonder if the 981 will have the same issue as it doesn't not appear to have the same metal ring frame inside (at least from a visual perspective), if that is what caused it - e.g. by compression of the ringed frame against the material...

Re: OFFICIAL : Porsche Boxster 981

The German Porsche dealers have already listed some new and used Boxster 981s for sale.

    See them here:  http://www.autoscout24.de/ListGN.aspx?vis=1&state=A&atype=C&make=57&model=1955&cy=D&page=1&maxresult...

Most are black. In fact I've noticed that it seems to be the dealers colour of choice (certainly true of the 991) for their demo cars. Not sure about the black one with the custom gold wheels! :)

The white one is stunning! kiss A truly great design the new Boxster. Prefer it a lot over the new 911.

Sounds like a good option for certain drivers Smiley

    "Should I buy one?

The answer to this lies wholeheartedly in your priorities. The standard Boxster S (preferably with the PASM adaptive dampers) is so good an all-rounder, with a chassis already offering sharp reactions, that this car requires some real commitment.

Venture towards a track and you’ll find it entirely worth it, where the sharper reactions will not only widen the performance envelope but bring lap times down as well. Try it once and we’re convinced that you’ll be hooked. For road use only it’s a different story, the addition of the Sports Chassis only any good for pub-bragging rights; the setup offers no real benefits on our roads over other Boxsters. Make the right decision for you though, and we’re sure you’ll never regret it."

Sounds similar to the suspension setup for the Spyder and R of the 987 generation.  Does this option include LSD?

Again - when they get serious and don't want compromise the don't use the crappy PASM.  lol -

I still LOVE my PSS9, lowered to around -30mm on my 2005 997S.  No PASM - Max smiles!

I can still manually set mine from 1-9 - I wonder if these have any manual adjustment, - Porsche being cheap again.

Hehe, agree Smiley The KW on my Boxster is way better than the factory setup. Very unlikely they'll be adjustable though - just different rates.

it's a good sign they're being a bit more serious with the performance bits on the 981, though. The 987 never had a sport chassis option at all, although the 986 did. Just need an X51 now Smiley
