One of the members on mclife said that taking your ferrari out on track will void the warranty.  is that true?

No. The biggest proof is that during the Ferrari racing days, Ferrari owners track their car, in front of Ferrari officials. Only the modified cars warranties void.

I know this from first hand experience, at the Ferrari Racing events in Istanbul (back in 2014), Ferrari official who is responsible for the after sales and warranty took vin number of a car (or two) during the track time because the car(s) had aftermarket exhaust and told the service manager to void its warranty.

I kept tracking my car for the last 3 years and when I wanted something unusual from Ferrari italy, the service always mentioned Ferrari that I spent many miles on track so know what I'm asking for.

This is a Ferrari event...we talked about it previously that manufacturers usually don't void the warranty for customers who use their cars during manufacturer organized events.

Those aftermarket stuff issues are common with all manufacturers. Whenever Porsche officials are around, they check on cars with obvious mods and write down their VIN numbers. Actually, even dealers are obliged to do the same but of course many don't want to p.ss off their own customers and sometimes those mods (exhaust, wheels, etc.) are actually installed/sold by the official Porsche dealers. Smiley

    kingjr9000:

Whew!  Thats good to hear.  that really didn't make much since to me when i first saw it since ferrari always claim to  pride themselves as a brand that cares more about the driving experience as opposed to pure lap times.  So just to make sure, you can drive it on any track at your own leisurely pace, even without going to their racing days events, and still not void the warranty?  As for mods, you can anything to it such as lowering, spacers, tires, ecu tunes and the like, and still be under warranty as long as they were done by a ferrari dealer service shop or certified technician?

The reason why I'm asking is because I saw several users do it on fchat and they said they went to their service mechanic and he did it for them.  And they didn't seem like they would be willing to give up their warranty just for half a second on the track.  They did mention that any other tire other than ferrari certified tires would void the warranty, though.

Every Ferrari has coilover so the official service can lower the car on stock suspension, which I did.

I put Trofeo R tires and probably used 5-6 sets and it was ok. BUT Ferrari doesn't recommend full slicks because they claim, it will send false data and fail the car (probably ABS and ESP sensors).

Ferrari has 2 type of exhaust system in its Genuine Part katalogue. So If you put Ferrari exhaust at the service, there is no warranty issue. However, ECU tune will red flag your car.

Oh, i know.  One instagramer said that the race exhaust and tune bump up the SV power to around 800hp.

The ECU tunes for the Macan Turbo are certainly not Porsche approved or endorsed. Smiley

It is commendable that Lamborghini does that, I just wish they would offer them for the Huracan as well (you know why...Smiley).

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Nice color. I'm a big fan of dark blues. Not feeling the stripes though. I think lighter wheels would look better too.

I'm a big fan of Lamborghini Blu Fontus. This is one of my favorite Gallardos. I think a lighter, dark grey wheels like this would be better.

Gallardo really is a classic exotic when I see it from the profile. It really aged well, at least from the side.

Yeah, I can understand your motivation, nice looking Speciale in a lovely colour (though I'm with noone1 concerning the stripe).

But what I was thinking about is why are you looking for a Speciale, if you already have a Speciale Aperta? Smiley

I can understand, that a 488 won't be special enough or maybe it's too refined, especially when I think about your other cars, but doesn't a Speciale A do anything (and even more) a Speciale does? Smiley

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

The stripe is much less overpowering in person. I had the same reservation till I saw it in the metal. Its a very unusual if not unique spec but works beautifully as a whole. I'm very particular about specs a you know and would never have chosen any of the combinations on this car - Blu Scozia/Charcoal interior (usually too light in the sunlight)/ Italian flag (too loud) yet it has worked beautifully.I too am not a black wheels fan other than on Lamborghinis but here again it just works when you are standing next to it. The reason for the Aperta and Coupe is that the Coupe will be used in the winter and for track use whilst the Aperta is for the summer. Also driving the 488 reinforced in my mind that the 458 Speciale is for me the greatest mid-engined V8 Ferrari of all time and we will not see its like again so better to get one now before the prices are even crazier in 10 years' time.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Oh yes - this Speciale looks stunning. I love the dark blue with the stripes and the interior is super special!

So what's better than a Speciale? Two Speciales! Smiley One as coupe, one as a convertible. Smiley

So I guess that the 488 won't stay too long with you... Smiley
