    Re: Pagani Huayra

Very high oil consumption, IMS in early water-cooled models, the GT drei roller toaster, which they never bothered to come up with a proper fix angry but some say, you now drive a VW which is intelligible.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Wonder why Corsa on front and Trofeo R tyres on rear.

    So light!

    Porker:

Do customers of high-end cars actually demand this horrific styling? It seems every hypercar facelift/update receives tasteless tuner-like addenda. yes

That said, they Huayra was never a beauty unlike the gorgeous Zonda, IMO.

I feel the same way. It´s funny how a car that on paper should make your heart pound - and then does absolutely nothing for you. It looks busy, overworked and trying way too hard. This is why I still love the Carrera GT; it´s a masterclass in elegant yet functional design. Pagani seems to do the opposite Smiley

The exterior design is basically perfect, I agree. The interior? Not my thing, a bit too "plush" for my taste.

Also, I wish Pagani could get rid of that AMG logo on the engine, it kind of devalues the car, as weird as this may sound. angry

You know as well as I do that these are some of the best engines out there. They have the right performance, they are long lasting like a taxi and the sound is just incredible. The only reason I could see why you are writing this is that Pagani should have their own machine. Other than that - this engines are pure soul and power.

Just think about all those Ferrari, Lambo engines which are so high maintenance. None of them would do 300.000 km without any problem. Every Mercedes Motor is designed to run at least that number. Just think about all those 996, 997 engines which broke between 50k and 100k km? Especially within the first series of 996 - not many of the engines out there hit even a 100k km.

Further on - it is industry wide known that Mercedes build some fine engines. That's also the reason why Aston choose to go this route. And - as well as the V12, the V8 big block is for sure one of the best sounding engines out there.

Stunning car, love the color combo.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

OMG angel It's the only car I would actually park in the living room as an art piece. I love the exterior, but interior I would make all black on this blue.. It is just such an incredible piece... it would be very special to drive it.

I must be the only one who doesn't find the Huayra attractive , the interior is to much "bling" for my taste and that fish front look doesn't  do nothing for me, I prefer the Zonda, but still don't compare Pagani to LaFerrari or 918 those are on a different league.

While there's certainly some truth in that, the AMG V12 6.0 is NOT a good sounding engine, far from it actually. An S65 AMG sounds like a Dyson, as does the Huayra sadly...

I agree their NA 7.3 V12 and all of their V8's sound brilliant.

I've no idea where do you get your statistics on reliability but high-end Mercedeses and reliability are two incompatible words. The entire AMG 63 line is the worse deprecating performance car you can get. The only one which is even worse is the AMG 65 and the 600. No one wants to touch these cars after 100K km.

Those anecdotes about MB's engine and general reliability are coming from the their glorious past when they used to be in a league of their own. Since the 90's they've learned many tricks from BMW :)

This is true about the previous V12s while I can't say much about the current ones, but Pagani engine specs are all  kept in the dark and will not be revealed vs the Mercedes V12 AMG engines that are found in the Mercedes lineup.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

I don't think any modern engines are unreliable. Even a Honda motor will shit the bed if you drive it as hard as you do an exotic.

The biggest reliability issues nowadays are electronics/sensors and screws/nuts/bolts/clamps/hoses. It's pretty rare (aside from the GT3) to have a physically unreliable engine.

Agree on the interior. I just find it all too much to taken in when I sit in it, and it detracts from the driving experience as does the poor gearbox. I passed on the opportunity last year, and do not regret it.

I love this car, but I definitely see what you're saying.  Salomondrin said he had issues with his Huayra (the battery dying on almost a daily basis, among other things).  Are there a lot of issues with them?

They actually sound OK (much better than the 991.2 Turbo S for example) but not even close to an Audi/Lamborghini V10/ Lamborghini V12 n/a engine or what Aston Martin produces with their V8/V12 engines.

Never heard the Huayra live, so... Smiley

Still...not bad for Turbos. Only the 488 sounds better in my opinion (out of those turbo sportscars out there).

Impressive if it really is as light as they say. Should be an indication of what to expect from the next batch of hypercars.

But so OTT, almost baroque. A 'plain' Zonda F Clubsport is where they hit the sweet spot imo.

Personally, I do not expect any major weight reductions (if any!) with future hypercars. Unless of course they never crash tested them. Smiley Smiley

+1. And the clutch lets the car down big time. The finish on the carbon though is unparalleled.

They could do it if they wanted to, but adding power and stickier tires is the easier development path right now.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

I think the P15 should come in very, very light. I mean, it has to have more power and lightweight than an already powerful and lightweight 720S. It's a P1 replacement minus hybrid, so I'm expecting something extremely light.
