    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

just remember Steve Millen is essentially a Nissan employee/contract worker. Also, consider how some of the mags used to show the Z06 killing the 997tt at the track (C&D lightning laps) and now this shows them on par.

    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

I do remember Stillen.com and Z32 days, it's that time of the year for a new Nissan to sell all over again

The Z06 is faster than the TT up to 250 km/h, but then loses ground. Very well suited to american road speeds and the track, actually.

    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

On tracks it's lap times that count and the GT-R is five seconds faster.

    Lap time: 1:56.9
    84.0 mph avG.

    "The Gt-r just
    does so many
    things so well. It
    has terrific brakes,
    and the stability is
    amazing. You can
be really deep in a corner, and all you're
thinking about is how quick you can get
back on the throttle. the car can get
into a big drift, but all you have to do
is stand on the gas, steer to where you
want to go, and let the all-wheel drive
pull it strongly off the corner. there's a
little understeer on entry, but as soon as
heavy throttle is applied, the car becomes
neutral. the car loves to be loaded and is
at its best when driven hard into corners.
It seems to have more grip that way. the
steering is wonderful, and the paddle
shifters allow me to have both hands
on the steering wheel. overall, I'm very
impressed; the Gt-r gives me more feed-
back and more confidence than any street
car I've ever driven on a racetrack."

    Exactly!

These magazines either have poor management/ethical standards or are simply naive. These is NO WAY a GT-R can be 5 seconds faster than a Z06, which is significantly lighter. For that matter, I can't see it being much more than 1-2s faster than a 997tt (on the same tires).

Finally, Nissan seems to have released many pre-production vehicles for testing. As we know, it doesn't take much to bump HP figures on turbo charged vehicles. Let's wait for an actual production GT-R test before getting too excited.

IMO, it really doesn't matter. NO 997tt/Z06/F430/Gallardo owner will care either way. Good bit of engineering, however.

    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

I thought it was funny that this ex Nissan race car driver / ex Nissan employee whom currently sponsers Nissan Events got slower times in the Z06 than did the columnist for Car & Driver. Obviously there was more going on here than fair comparisons. I dont think we've see an un-biased Turbo vs GT-R test yet but thats to be expected from the very first type of people that got a hold of a car like the GT-R.

I also remember the huge buzz around how the Z06 was the car to dominate the Turbo but after enough tests & the hype wore off it was apparent that never happened. This GT-R buzz is like déjà vu.

    LoL!!!!Infiniti's 4dr GT-R on way

    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

I call shenanigans. Nissan did make an R33 Skyline GT-R sedan. But the R35 GT-R has been dissociated from the Skyline range (Infiniti G35/37 in the US), it's not the same platform.

GT-R sedan and GT-R SUV sound unlikely. Even the claim that Renault is going to use the platform is bogus (there's no market for such a car).

    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

Lets face it the days that Porsches and Ferraris dominated the high performance car market is over. So drive what you like and what you enjoy driving. Do I respect the GTR and Z06? Of course I do but just looking at my 997TT makes me feel by far better than looking at the other two

If you look at the rear seat headroom in the current GT-R, you'll see that extending the roofline as in that photo will do nothing to make the rear seats usuable by an humans taller than 4ft.

    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

this test confirms that the GTR is a much faster car than the turbo...as best motoring showed...
The question is: Is the GTR faster than the GT2 on a track ? If it's yes it's a major failure for Porsche. I Hope they will reply Strongly

Don't believe everything they write. The tester is a former Nissan factory driver.

    Yes.

I might buy either of those other cars if they had better looking bodies AND if I were a car collector. Right now they look kinda goofy to me.

Besides that, they'll never have the classic appeal and looks and "prestige" of Porsche.

Do I care about looks more than minute differebces in performance? On the _street_ I do. Why? Because on the street the performance is basically the same. Try to _demonstrate_ the slight differences on the street and you'll get arrested and thrown in jail.

So what are we left with? Exactly the question of which car you like looking at best.

Also, which car would you rather be _seen_ in?

    No brainer: Porsche.

Oh..., then there's the important question of build quality, materials and comfort... .

    Porsche wins that one too.

    Re: R&T: Z06 vs GT-R vs 911T

A challenger to the still-unrelased panamera already? The panamera feels like it's been in development forever.
