    07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

I'm looking for the best color combo for my boxster! I'd been struggle with 3 combination and i'm really only down to 3 choices for personal preferences.

    They are as follows:
    Basalt Black/Black/Black
Basalt Black/Black/Sand Beige w/ black mats
    Meteor Grey/Black/Black

Which one do you guys think will be the best? I usually like having a contrast between the interior and the exterior but i can let it go on the triple black. so which is it? is there any disadvantages of getting the interior in Beige? will it be easy to keep clean/maintain? I would love to have black interior but sometimes it looks a bit dull with it all black.. so i guess you guys can help decide because i can't decide 1 out of the 3 w/o sacrificing the others. ><
I'm leaning towards the basalt btw..

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

It doesn't matter which colour choice anyone here likes it's the choice you yourself are happiest with. If it was me I'd go for black / sand / black mats to give a contrast rather than all black, perhaps with rear section of centre console in exterior colour to give the interior a bit of contrast as well. The other two options are either all black or monotone black /grey. It's nice to have a bit of contrast in there as well, IMO. Good luck with whatever you end up going for.

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

ya the black/beige is very neat, makes the car looks more luxurious and classy. but does it gets dirty easily? well i'd been thinking but considering that it's only a 2 seater, i think i can manage to keep it very clean.
oh and as for the centre console in exterior color, it sounds perfect for a 2 tone car :P
let me see how it looks in the configurator :P
btw, do you guys have any pics of the black/beige 987? i really wanna make the correct decision before i put 80k on my ride :P

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

black beige isn;t great for resale in the UK, but does seem popular in the US (and Canada ?)

Meteor is a great colour, has enough darkness to get a great shine, and enough masking power to hide general dust and dirt (which black won't !)

I'm very impressed with my Atlas Grey - colour changes from black > grey > blue dependent upon the intensity of the sunlight !

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

I have Sand with Seal (which, judging by a Meteor car in the showroom is *very* similar, though couldn't tell what it'd be like in sunlight).

I've had 30k with the Sand full-leather since May 05. It does get dirty, but not rapidly (I've only cleaned fully once, and that was as much to feed the leather as to clean it). It's not like you have to clean it every month or anything.

The main issues I have found are that scuffs tend to show white, so (while not critical) I'd try to be careful not to clean too vigourously (particularly near the stiching) or drag heavy items over the leather.
But if you're careful, I don't think it's any more of a problem than any other colour.

I saw a used example, newer than mine and with less miles in the showroom, and the leather was out of condition and rather creased - mine looked in much better nick. So I guess if you look after the leather with care, it'll maintain it's looks better.

Have you considered cocoa? It does look good, and is dark enough to hide dirt.

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

Another point to bear in mind, if you choose sand, make sure you tick the box for full leather as the plastic bits in that colour don't look too good, IMO.

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

I have Atlas Grey/black/black. Would have gone for Meteor if it had been available. I don't know how well the other greys match the Meteor, would probably have black, but maybe full natural leather would be luxurious and lift the interior ambiance.

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

thanks guys for the advices!! really appreciate them!!

well after quite some thoughts.. i think the all black combo will serves me best. I had been dreaming of owning a batmobile (aka gallardo) one day but then for some reason i changed my taste and favors the boxster. first it's alot easier to maintain and the cost is 1/4 of the gallardo.

now that i had decided on the color, i will be going for another test drive for the boxster. i never drove in a boxster though.. but i had test-droved a 997. :P

well i guess i should go back and rethink which car will really give me the pleasure of driving.. i only considered the 997 during my last trip to Porsche but now i am open up for the boxster.

say that i'm a conservative person.. i'll be leaning towards the box over the 997.. correct me if i'm wrong

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

Triple black is the right choice, and the Boxster is Porsche's best car. Book it.

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

    To surfcity:
i can see that your car is black in that pic
anyways, boxster is the better looking porsche IMO. but the 997 is the better performance car. plus it got 2 back seats
it's really hard to decide, i think i'll need some time before i make the decision. but i just know i won't go wrong with the porsche :P

Bon, I'd argue that ON THE STREET the Boxster is the better performer, better balanced, easier and more pleasant to drive, and almost as fast in a straight line. In terms of absolute performance, it's 9/10s of the 997, and the difference is evident only on the track. Except for the occasional straight-line blip, I doubt that you'll EVER encounter a real-world situation where the 997 will prevail over the Box.

(And I know my car looks black, but it's actually Midnight Blue.)

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

    i will choose Meteor Grey/Black/Black

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

me too, i don't see the reason for getting the 997 over the boxster if it weren't for the 2 rear seats. I do have to admit that after seeing a few posts on rennteam, the 997 is not much faster than the boxster on the street.

And yes, i will rarely track my car if i'm going to buy one. so it's down to the 2 rear seats and the pride of owning the iconic 911. and to be honest, i do need rear seats since i occasionally drive 2 friends out. i don't know how i'll be able to do that with a boxster

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

i do own a honda civic and a MB Eclass though.. so maybe i can drive my civic if i have more than 2 people in my car or make a friend drive.

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

If you are considering the 997 for rear seat room, make sure you sit in the rear seat. I considered the 997 and took my 14 year daughter for a test drive. She found the rear seat very uncomfortable so I would think adults would find it worse.

Go for the Boxster S...you got the MB E class for those times when you need to have more than two people.

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

i had sat in the rear seat once.. it's not very comfortable but i can live with it in a drive that is no more than 30min. Also, i'll only let female friends sit in the back since the seats fits them better.
don't worry! no pigs are allowed on my car haha! my friends are all slim. :P

    I agree

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

What more could you ask for a 997 cab with three beautiful ladies out for a ride with you...Life is good...

Re: 07 Boxster Build dilemma! ><

    to bobr:
haha true! but the cab does make the back seats even tighter..
so i'll most likely get the coupe. plus it's 16k cheaper :P

however, people are telling me to wait for the facelift.. heard it'll get some extra hp, maybe a minor boost but that will do just fine for me :P
