Why should I change one car with 530 hp against another one with the identical power figure? Yes, the 991 is nice, but I guess a standard Turbo won't be nice enough for me to make me change. So either it has to be a Turbo S or a 458 Scuderia or maybe even a MP4-12C or new Gallardo. Smiley

And wait, wasn't there an all new midengined Porsche car in the cards? Smiley

yup, for me my 997.1 TT is enough right now

I dont want to spend that much money for a car that is ... yes shourly better, but not a leap ahead.

I'll wait also for new Gallardo or midengined Porsche or maybe McLaren opens a service garage in vienna

Ok, from this point of view there are some other nice options, too. But if you decide in the PTurbo department only, the main argument for the 991 Turbo could be the fresher design and the always stated chassis improvements. For ex.: if you order 2013 a new Turbo you can change it in 2016 in the 991 Turbo S. :-)

Exactly, doesn't seem to be the turbo... at least, not the body: doesn't have the real side inlets.

P.S.: Honestly, I agree - the 991TT is more likely to have 550-560hp. Would be consistent with previous model generations in comparison to TTS/powerkit predecessors.

Honestly, I think my driving abilities are far below of today's chassis technology. Smiley

So either car will do it for me, no matter if it comes from Stuttgart, Maranello, St.Agata or Woking. Smiley

Concerning the design I'm perfectly happy with the 997.2 as there is not one thing I would criticise, I'm also one of the few who thinks the old interior style is immaculate. Smiley

I spend time to find something wrong aesthetically with the 997.2 and I cannot.

Very harmonious without a single unnecessary or wasted styling detail, especially in GT silver. Not overstyled or flamboyant  like some other expensive cars but still with a strong statement.

In future its aesthetics will be taught at Universities and by the end of the century there will be sculptures of it in parks, squares and museums.Smiley

I too think that the 997.2 is the most refined and perfectly designed 911 Porsche ever built, there is not much to criticize and I even think that after the 991 introduction, the 997 will actually replace the 993 as the favorite "classic" Porsche.

On the other hand, the 991 is just beautiful and makes the 997.2 (when you put both cars side to side) look outdated. I'm still happy with my choice for the GTS for the various reasons I already mentioned but if I had the choice now, I would very likely go for the 991 instead.

Only 14 more months to decide what Porsche comes next... Smiley

I have to say I thought the same already... the 993 will always have a special place being the last aircooled model and still relying on the same basis chassis and engine as the first model but am pleased to see that the 991 leaves enough stylistical presence for the predecessor.

For me it is impressive to see what Porsche can achieve if they are not held back by economic circumstances.

I asked before and I am asking again... How are they going to integrate the red strip on the back of the AWD models?

I am very curious to see how... because the "sculpted" stop lights combined with the massive rear creates a problem...

Seems to me there is only two options, either they offer a slightly modified rear bumber, or they simply don't offer the red strip at all which I think is more likely.

Same as my thoughts... But I don't believe Porsche can afford not to have a red strip at the back for the AWD models.

So they must modify the rear. And if you try to unite the stops in a "sculpted" way.... I don't know... Seems ugly from imagination...

    A Photoshop anyone?

I believe Carrara did one, and he strip looked prety good IMO, though it wasn't flat, it kind of had to follow the contours around the rear light sockets if I remember correctly.

I had my name down for the 991 Turbo already, my dealer told me it's going to be 2013. I think he mean model year, so I figured late next year would be the launch time.

The Turbo comes 2013 and no, he didn't mean the model year.

    December...Coupe.

    Spring 2012....Cab.

    Autumn 2012...maybe GT3.

    Winter 2012...C4/C4S models

    Spring/Summer 2013...Turbo.

This is not an official schedule but something I gathered from various rumors we heard.

Above dates are also earliest dates...if everything goes smoothly and if the global economy doesn't require adjustments.

Oh, there is also a very strong rumor that there will be a 991 GTS sooner or later.

Not that I have anything to complain about the current 997.2.
I'm really quite happy with it, the BEST sportcar I ever owned, without a single doubt.

But my thinking about the new 991 Turbo is based on the imagination that we all will see after the next 12 months the new 991 in the streets on a daily basis. And with every view, with every encounter the wish to have the new one will grow. At the end I know very well what will happen: I'm sitting at the dealers signing the contract of the new 991. I know it for sure, so why should I fend it?
