    new tires for my c2s

i was thinking to try the bridgestones but no availability
for the new ones that the 06 models have
    dont want again ps2.
    what do you think?
    worth to wait?

Re: new tires for my c2s

What was wrong with the PS2's?

Re: new tires for my c2s

Have you considered the Conti's. They seem to be a better value. See this thread:

I agree wholeheartedly. I have the Conti's as standard equipment on my 2006 911S, and they perform quite well. I especially am impressed with their performance at high speed in the rain. Where I live, in the western part of Virginia in the U.S., we often get extremely heavy rains, and I especially like tires that give better performance in wet weather.

Re: new tires for my c2s

I made 23k with my michelins. I'm very pleased with them!
Next week i'll be placing a new rear pair.

Re: new tires for my c2s

Nothing is wrong with the ps2 but I wanted to try the bridgestones because i heard good things about them
Anyway I changed 3 times my tires in 41000 km and the only disadvantage with the ps2 is that they they dont last long.
In greece streets are terrible so i need more sticky tires than ps2, if exist
    Thanks for the response guys.
By the way why conti's sport contact 3 are not available for carreras? the tire looks great!

Re: new tires for my c2s

I can't speak for tire wear yet (still just under 4000 miles on my S) but my cab came with the Bridgestones (on XRRs) with up to the 305s in the back end. Unfortunately, the Tread Wear rating is a miserable 145 so I'm guessing all that stickiness is going to come at a price. What is the treadwear rating on the Michelins; on the Pirellis?

    Treadwear according to Tire Rack:

    Bridgestone's 140
    Michelin's 220
    Conti's 280
    Pirelli's 220

I did 10 000 km with my Bridgestones ( the back ones)....The front are still ok , even after about 5 days of track use included

Re: new tires for my c2s

my front tires cost me 625 euro's, for 2 by the dealer.

Re: new tires for my c2s

Living in a cold climate the idea of high performance all season tires is very appealing. Tire Rack sells a Bridgestone tire that they say is good for the C2S, the Potenza RE960AS. The only problem with this tire is it is not Porsche approved (no N rating). If this tire was Porsche approved I would dump my PS2 and move to bridgestone in an instance. The PS2 are good tires, but they do become less than ideal as the tempertaure approaches the 0C mark.

Does anyone have any experience with this tire on a 911?

Re: new tires for my c2s

    Hello TheOldMan,

I bet I'm older than you!..... I do not think that N ratings are crucial for the 997. The NSX is of similar performance and no special versions of the best ultra hi performance tires were ever produced. I used PS1 on my NSX and they were great, and way better then the OEM Yokohama's or Bridgestones on anything but a race track at the extremes that only a superior race driver could achieve.

I also consider, that consistent with the soft bushings (suspension or engine) on all 2005 model 911s, and maybe 2006, but now corrected on the GT3, that produced significant lateral movement of the body at higher cornering g's (but remarked upon by very very few on this web, although highlighted by Pete Stout, ed of Excellence)you can very safely use ANY top performnace tire you like.

I found the Contis very harsh on our less than smooth roads in Canada (Saskatoon 52N),and delberately put NON-N PS1s on my 997. There is absolutely no perceptable difference in cornering power from the Contis---the rear end lateral slide ultimately limits what you do anyway.

Go ahead and use hi performance all seasons---forget the N-----I put them on my Acura TL for the same reasons, as their excellent performance over a wide range of temps is very desirable. In Spring and Fall when temps are below 10C or so, summer tires are way below appropriate for a 997 or a TL! Low grip and harsh ride......My TL was great on such Yokohamas-----

I put LM22s on the 997 in mid Oct to April here to solve the local problems...

    Cheers KiwiCanuck

Re: new tires for my c2s

-followup ..... the lateral movement is with PASM only.

And-----much as I really enjoy and love my 997, if the NSX moved laterally like that I would have the car inspected for a 'loose suspension component'.

Has anyone asked Porsche US or Canada if there are replacement bushings for engine or suspension that remove that lateral movement? I expected some unique 911 characteristics, but this is ridiculous really.....and...there is nothing irregular with MY car---they are all--and I agree with Pete Stout----- like that!!

Re: new tires for my c2s

I just changed my rears with 20 k on them and they are the contis. The fronts are still going.
