My car has over 7600 km now, last 100-200 kph measurement (Dragy and Track Pace) showed 7.10 seconds, so I guess there is no need to tune my car. From 250-300 kph, the performance is even more insane.

This car never has 612 hp, more like 660-670 hp.

All your cars seem to be the fastest indecision I remember reading similar posts about your 991 GTS and R8...

    I guess I am lucky...or I just treat them right. Numbers don't lie... 😎

In the case of the E63 however, it seems to be the normal. Most E63 S I "know" or heard of seem to perform amazingly well, nothing new here.

    Oops, sorry...I lied...7.17 seconds (not 7.10)...you got me. 😱

You are lucky for owning the E63, nothing unusual with your particular car.

There were a lot of independent dyno tests of that car in US and they all had one thing in common:

Official rating severely underrates the real output, after computing with the average 12-15% powertrain loss to the wheels all the tests estimated around 670-680HP at the crank.

Re: Mercedes E63 S AMG (2018) - Short Review (updated on a regular basis)

If you look at the Maha dyno chart I posted you will see the car measured an uncorrected 615PS this is an accurate loading chassis dyno unlike most of the cheap rolling roads in the USA - the reason the car is fast is the shape of the power curve, over 600PS from 5000 to 6750rpm combined with seamless shift auto = fast acceleration times.

Re: Mercedes E63 S AMG (2018) - Short Review (updated on a regular basis)

The E63S tested by Sport Auto had, as far as I remember, 660 hp and performance is quite similar, maybe even slightly worse. All these 4.0 V8 Biturbo engines seem to run pretty well and quite reliable too.

I will never tune my car, makes no sense, the performance is enough for such a car, no need to risk the warranty.

Btw: My Audi R8 is very "picky" when it comes to straightline performance. Sometimes I get times in the 6.4s or 6.5 and last time, it was pretty hot outside, slightly over 7.2 seconds, was pretty weird. Seems the n/a engine isn't less sensitive to temperatures/whatever than turbo engines are...

    Smiley

I genuinely wasn't trying to slur the US for having cheap dynos, there are plenty in the UK as well, fact is a well set up chassis dyno facility like Manthey or VGS have is an expensive undertaking and there are way too many shops out there who just buy something cheap and churn out meaningless numbers.

    True.

Renntech facility in Florida has a nice set up and they are very reputable here.

I had 14 cars modified by them (since 2002) and was always happy with their results.

Btw, they were the first independent facility in US claiming these very high power numbers for the new E63, that engine is a monster.

Thanks. I like how the new LED headlights look but surprisingly, if you add the optional LED performance lights or whatever they're called, the design gets boring again.

I wanted to add some carbon stuff and maybe the ceramic brake, would have been maybe 100 EUR more per month but wife didn't want it. Smiley

Much nicer design the cabriolet than the equivalent coupe which is rather awkward at the rear. Good colour scheme.

Definitely a ladies' car in spite of the AMG power.

I drive the car as well, especially in winter time and I really like the ceramic brake, it is also quite "affordable" for the C63, basically half the price compared to the E63. Also, it looks quite good but maybe not on a white car.

Cars like the Mercedes C above that come in numerous versions are rather "socially safe" in envious communities. Most people cannot tell a true AMG from an entry model at half the price or less, especially if the badges are removed. Besides basic versions can be ordered with the AMG Look Pack which confuses matters further.

    Still a reality here...

In my neighborhood, we had some changes, new people with expensive cars, so I do blend in now, no real issues anymore (or people just got used to it, my wife is the family doctor of half of our neighborhood now, so when they need you... Smiley). With school, things look differently. Kids can be still mean. One older kid once teased my son "your mommy is driving you to school in a Porsche, are you rich or something?" once and stuff like that sticks to a kid's brain.

When I was a kid, I just took the kids with a big mouth in a headlock and afterwards, they never bothered me again. Smiley Nowadays, you can't do that, you need to stick to the rules and the rules benefit those who have a big mouth, this is a reality. My son could easily take on these kids, he does Judo for three years now,  Kickboxing for a year and I even started to teach him some Krav Maga (just some basics since he is a kid and it is too dangerous, for him and his "adversaries") but he is a good kid, he isn't looking for a fight (I always taught him that) and this makes the whole thing even more difficult for him because he is not the type of guy who makes fun of others.

My son shouldn't complain though, there is some serious mobbing going on at most schools over here and kids can be real cruel. They do tons of mobbing awareness courses in school but it doesn't help. My son always tells me how they pick on a girl in his class because she is a bit weird but last time he tried to help her, they started picking on him, so he backed off.

It is a cruel world out there... My daughter was lucky, she never had issues in school with other kids, maybe because they respected her (she was one of the best in the school), not because she was something special. The friendship with her best friend went down the drain because her best friend told others that my daughter lives in a "palace" and that kid even calculated how much we spent for our vacations (based on holiday pictures and what my daughter told her), which at some point made my daughter even cry. Crazy kids but the fun part is: Her formerly best friend messed up school and  finished it with a bad mark, so there is justice in the world. Smiley

Kids can be very MEAN....We´ve been all through that!!!!

This is going off topics but anyway.....

    A word of advice.

    Krav Maga!!!!

Depending of the training it can be very dangerous....

I´ve seen Krav Maga lessons where "reality" goes and also where "reality" doesnt go,

Forget about that crap about 5/6 guys, riffle.2  knifes!!!...I KNOW!!!!

Another things is some schools practice Full Contact Krav Maga and other´s dont!!!

In Full Contact Krav Maga you learn to punch/kick/throw (hard) and get punched/kicked/throwed (hard). The other´s, you just learn to punch in a way not to hurt your combat partner in school and in a real fight, THAT DOES MATTER!!!

    Regards.

I do Krav Maga for over 30 years now but I won't get into specifics again, did it often enough.

Only this: Krav Maga is no sport, big difference to your usual budo sports. Yes, it can be very dangerous, this is why it is not for kids (I know there are kids' groups, mostly in Israel and in the US but it isn't really something kids should do). I just taught my son some basic techniques to be able to cope with life threatening(!) situations. These are not necessarily attack techniques, I wouldn't teach my son stuff like that, also because of liability issues.

I also taught my son an important defensive move of Krav Maga: If you can avoid a fight, avoid it. If your adversary has weapon, move away. Do not engage unless you fear for your life. Unfortunately one major goal of Krav Maga is to attack first, to surprise your adversary. This can be a serious problem in many situations. One reason why it is best to AVOID fights. No fight, no risk. Smiley

The biggest issue with Krav Maga is the philosophy behind it: You do not restrain yourself, on the contrary. You must hit with the biggest force possible. Actually, you learn how to put your whole body weight as much as possible in this. This is why this isn't something for kids or adolescents because they can hurt themselves (and others) pretty badly.

Also, there is nothing "fair" about Krav Maga: You play it dirty with everything you have at your disposal. Not a sport.

    I´m suprised!!!

Never tought you were in to Martial Arts!!!!

One of the best things when a person is practicing a Martial Arts is....stance.

You know what i´m talking about....You walk different, you´re stance is diferrent....People """"""""""kinda bow to you"""""""""

Yeah, there are some very agressive schools (and very agressive security guards).....

Usually a guy that does Martial Arts rarely gets in Trouble!!!

You also learn to respect and your senses just go Berzerk and you learn to antecipate bad situations!!!!!
