    okay. I ordered a C2S

    Hi all,

Ok. I finally placed an order last Sat on a Carrera S. It's a Dec. build. A friend of mine also ordered a C2S in Speed Yellow/Cocoa.

    My options:
    Arctic Silver/Black
    Heated Seats
    Sport Chrono
    Dimming mirror
    Power seats
    Full leather
    Bose

I'm thinking about getting the adapt. sport seat instead of Bose. what do you guys think? I'm trying to keep it around 90K with tax. Anyone got a chance to listen to the standard audio system? Most car in the dealer they all have the Bose.

    Re: okay. I ordered a C2S

I have the adaptive seats and they are extremely comfortable. I also have the standard audio system which is also great. I think the money is better spent on the seats.

    Re: okay. I ordered a C2S

bose is a great system, you can always add the seats later

bose improves the system 100fold, and cannot be retrofitted.

    Re: okay. I ordered a C2S

get the seats! they are great!

    Re: okay. I ordered a C2S

How long will you keep your car? If you want to keep it some years then buy both!

I'm sure I would be annoyed at not having the seats or not having the Bose every time I sit in the car. It's only 1-2% of the total price

    Re: okay. I ordered a C2S

if you can't affod another 1000$ option, then you are stretched too far anyway

    problem solved, you're welcome

cancel the full leather and you can probably get sport seats (in _leather_) and the Bose insted. I'm guessing it will be very close. (Don't have the guide with me right now).

The full leather isn't that big a deal. Especially in black, it is VERy hard to tell the difference betwen the vinyl and the leather on stuff like visors and center rear console. Plus I "worry' about nicking the leather on areas like the center rear console.

I also think the dash looks cleaner without the horizontal stitching of the leather.

Conicidentally: I just today "ruined" an expensive pair of shoes by catching them on a sharp corner. Would hate that in the center of the dash.

    Re: problem solved, you're welcome

i have to disagree max, imho leather is VERY important, especially in P-cars, more so in the 9x6 generation, but in the 9x7 as well

    full leather is a must

hell, this guy should just get everything he has with bose AND the seats

dude you only live once, you're going to have regrets either way if you don't.

    Re: problem solved, you're welcome

agreed, would you build a Million Dollar house and have a vinyl floor in it? Didn't think so. For that matter, would you put a lawn chair in your living room either?

yeah I agree he should get it all and live it up.

But (geez, I hate these "buts") if you gotta compromise the leather and the vinyl are very hard to distinguish visually etc. esp black.

last time I looked _really_ closely was in the 996 (997 test the sales guy woundn't shut up and leave me alone) the Porsche full leather didn't thrill me (on visors and console etc) except on the seats and with their "supple leather" inserts.

I respect your POV and not gonna tell you you're wrong, makes me want to look closer, but still my 996 study drew me to the conclusion that the painted (pigmented) leather Porsche uses isn't that different from the really excellent "fake leather (vinyl).

please don;t get me wrong, but check out porsche vinyl components again. The "diamond" vinyl dash stuff in the 986 sport package was really incredible. Matter of fact in upscale homes they are re-introducing vinyl and linoleum flooring and it is not at all cheap and looks really good.

    It's a good material.

30 years ago you say plastics and people thought cheap and crummy. Today they think of high tech space shuttle composites.

    something to think about.

    uh oh---, I gotta run!

    check it out.

I agree with you, saw the triple black beauty next to a plain S with no leather and it look like night and day difference. The full leather option makes the interior look so much better.

    Re: problem solved, you're welcome

full leather is reaaly good specially on 997 ,a lot more visible stitching than 996,adaptive are excellent and bose is a must have ,it is soooo good .if you really have to choose ,get the sport seat (not adaptive)and the bose..

    Re: problem solved, you're welcome

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, if it was just me, I would get all 3: full leather, bose, and adaptive sport seats. It's just that my wife think I'm crazy getting a $95+k car already. My wife's point is that the bose system is not really needed, because the exhaust is pretty loud already(according to her standard), and I'll be listening to the exhaust more than the radio. Don't you guys have budget when you shop for things?

Yes, some of the options are only a few % of the price, but when you add them up, they can get pretty crazy...Well, I like alum. rear center console, alum. look pkg, alum. sills, sport exhaust, sport shifter, chrom tips, GT silver ext. paint, natural grey leather, color belts, color stitchings, PCCB, etc. I think it can easily go up to $110k-$120k. With that price, might as welll get a 996TT?

    Regards.

    Re: problem solved, you're welcome

i saw the non adaptive sport seat ,they are excellent, and you could get all the rest..

As a colonel you should get your way.
Beside that I think you are crazy. Like many of us.

Serious. Try one of these Porsche Travel Club weekends together with your wife. I don't know where you live. I did one of these Bodensee 911 trips together with my wife. She only attended the trip because of the great hotel (i.e. Julio Iglesias has been there).

After that trip I think she is even more enthusiastic than I am. The only problem now is what our neighbors may think...
