    GT3RS Production Number.

According to info given by a high ranking Porsche employee the production number of the GT3RS is 510 cars.

    Re: GT3RS Production Number.

    thanks, CF!

    at least IT IS limited

did anyone try to order one? are they sold out?
on www.mobile.de (german car sale website) there's one on offer for a roundabout 15,000 EUR premium:

    Do you need one?

I still doubt the limited numbers, I think Porsche will sell as many GT3 RS as they find customers. But to make it clear: I'm not sure there are many customers for such a car, 510 could be an artificial number based on estimated orders so far.

could be... it was probably overcredulous to believe that PAG would set a limit on anything they could sell...

to be honest, i'm thinking about the contrary since i get my car in november. my enthusiasm for the RS is fading due to non-limitation, GT3-similarity etc. i feel like porsche cheated on me a little bit (i know that they never promised anything, though). and: i'm more of a sportscar enthusiast and backyard racer than a track day regular (there's no track near the place i live). so... and i still have my '01 carrera, an order for the modena successor and fell in love with the 645i (don't laugh )

i'm very curious about the sportauto supertest announced for next month's issue, though. if this car is as great as we all hoped i'll probably keep it a long time... if it's only a GT3 with red decals...

btw: where's CR? haven't seen him around here for a long time. i hope he recovered well!

    Re: GT3RS Production Number.

That could be the case, actual orders as of yesterday.
I cancelled my order today for the GT3RS.
    I ordered a Cayenne Turbo instead,Kristallsilber/black
    20" Sport design wheels,delivery December.
The only reason I wanted the GT3RS was because of the anticipated low production number which I was told from the beginning.
BTW if you have a Carrera GT and a GT3RS in the garage which car are going to drive, hmm difficult choice.

He's fine but he has a lot of work to do (to be able to pay the most of the bills for Rennteam.com... ).

I don't want to influence you on your GT3 RS decision but I think the GT3 RS is actually a car you can keep for a very long time. If you're thinking about resale value, don't buy a Porsche. My experience isn't very good with resale (especially if your dealer takes the car in for a new car) and I stopped thinking about it because otherwise I'd never buy a new car again.

If you're not a track addict, I'm not sure the GT3 RS is the right car for you. Personally, I'd go for a GT2 instead because this car is powerful (the new GT2 slightly outruns the RS-Tuning tuned 543 HP Turbo, the new owner of my car had an "encounter" ), it is very special and it is fun to drive.
Or just wait for the new 997 and especially the next generation Turbo which is rumored to have minimum 460-480 HP at even a slightly lower weight.

The GT3 RS is the right car for Porsche enthusiasts, track addicts and track look-a-like wannabees. So if you don't make part of one of these categories, forget about it.

    Re: GT3RS Production Number.

    A cayenne Turbo instead of a GT3RS???
    I don't get it.
You only wanted the GT3 RS for its low prod? So it's was purely financial right? To resale it at a higher price no?
You should have bought an Enzo then
I sincerely hope you're not expecting the same sensations from you Cayenne compared to a GT3RS! Nice car though
    Fanch.

    Re: GT3RS Production Number.

Of course I didn't buy the Cayenne Turbo instead of the GT3RS in that sense.
What I meant to say was that I found out that If the car wasn't going to be a collectors car I had no use of it.
I actually ordered the Cayenne because of its superior qualities as an everyday car.
I recently bought an BMW X5 4.6is from a friend of mine, which I have already decided to sell.
I don't like it at all.

    Re: GT3RS Production Number.

I think I prefer the design of the X5 but overall, you're right, the Cayenne is a better vehicle. Especially if you plan to do some offroad.
    Fanch.

there are probably cars with a higher depreciation (7 series BMW... ) than the RS, but this wasn't my concern when going for this car.

the GT2 is way too expensive for me! this is nearly the price range of a murcielago -- which i would prefer over a GT2 anytime! (and i think you would either, RC! )

i match the first category a little bit... well... you make me think!!

but, to be honest, the only thing i do not like about the RS are the increased production number and the GT3 similarity. but nothing is really anything to worry about. the GT3 RS won't be a mass market car and the GT3 is a very refined product.
