    Question about C4S and Turbo cabs future body style...

    What is the likely future look of the C4S and Turbo cabs, when it comes to the introduction of the 997's? They both now have the 996 body, but will the MY 05'-?? have the same 996 look as far as the headlights, etc., or will those MY's adapt to the newer 997 look?

    This is just a wild guess, but I think the 997 Cab and Turbo will follow a year or so after the intro of the 997. Personally I think the 997 will be a widebody all the way, maybe with different suspension for "S" and stuff like that.

    I just don't know how much of the 996 internals will be on the 997. If it's just a skin change with existing motor/drivetrain they could all come out together.

    Who knows what PAG is thinking. Worse thing you could do is use logic! (sorry PAG)

    yeah, i bet they roll out the 997 tt cab with the 997 in the US as they do the 996 cab - if the 996 tt cab does well.

    Ben, are you of the opinion that the 997 is a re-skinned 996 except for upgraded motor, a la 993/964....or am I missing something somewhere?

    no, it looks to be wider too. but, the drivetrain probably won't be anything special - ie: same ole 3.6 but with the X51.

    Just my guess but I have a feeling that they won't introduce all product lines as 997 models just few selected ones. Carrera, Carrera Cab., Turbo....... Like I don't believe they would have a 997 Targa.

    If as rumored the all new 911 (998 ?) will be introduced in 2008 then there is not enough time for all 997 models to be introduced to public.

    At the same time, I heard each line would have a "S" model anyway.

    Whay is everyone thinking?

    Forget about a widebody all the way, this is how Porsche earns big money, so why abandon it?
    As far as I heard, the 997 Turbo follows around 2 years after the 997 introduction, depending on 997 demand.
    It will be the same "story" all the way with the 997: the C2/C4 will have a highly modified M96 engine, probably with around 350 HP on the base model (which in my opinion is a huge mistake because it isn't enough).
    The real interesting 997 models will be the ones with the GT1/993 derivate engine (like on the current 996 GT3/RS, GT2 and Turbo), coming in the all new GT3 and 997 Turbo.
    There have been rumors that Porsche wants to abandon the M96 engine and mount the "real" 911 engine all the way in all 997 models but just yesterday, I heard this is BS.

    The 997 will be a pretty much overworked 996 model, almost all body parts will be different and pretty much of the technical parts will be different too.

    Due to the slow selling 996, they really need something spectacular. The interesting part: Porsche already has some pretty interesting 997 models ready but if sales go up again, we might not see the most powerful and interesting ones.
    Marketing department rules.

    What do you mean by this? When the 997's roll out, will there be an "S" as in a widebody, or not? I like the widebody look, so I'm wondering if the 997's will have a widebody model, like the look of the 996 C4S.

    I think what RC meant was there will be a "S" (Wide Body) model but not for every model as I stated previously.
