please no mclaren, no audi. huracan was vetoed by my wife, too small trunk (not good for weekends away). in the end it is 488GTB, 812 superfast (guaranteed by the dealer for 2019) or keep the RS and see what happens along the way

I would just keep the RS - the other cars you mention would not add too much, right? More of a compromise?

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

I would get a 488 GTB or 812 Superfast over the GT3 RS any time...unless it would be the new GT3 RS.

Truth be told though, I would prefer a car with AWD...or a McLaren (excellent TC setup).

The 488GTO could be a resale/value winner though, same goes probably to the 812 Superfast.

If I had a quarter mil Euro now, I would probably choose between the Huracan Performante and the 720S in a very basic setup.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Since Ferrari parted ways with Pininfarina they're sinking in the design department. Not a word about the performance though.

Models designed in-house are too busy or directly too ugly, losing the proportions and italian savoir faire of PF predecesors. The only exception would be the tdf, which they nailed with the updated front.

To be honest: If I had the chance to get a 488 GTO in 2020, I would get it.

Or the Superfast in 2019, probably even better since this car is going to be a real collectible sooner or later. I am quite positive that this is going to be the last 12-cyl. n/a engine from Ferrari in a series production car.

yes, most likely the last 12 cyl n/a no kers. but they did kers well in the laferrari already a while ago.

AWD is a good point, but none of those cars have AWD, except the lambo.

I know, this is why I mentioned the McLaren. Best TC setup on the market.

True but Ferraris usually keep their value, especially the special ed models and the n/a ones.

seems no-one says something in favor of the 488GTB in comparison to my GT3RS.1 ......so i chime in: nicer looks, better ride - more compliant, no cup tyres which make me sweat in every downpour, rearview camera, parking sensors, reclining seats....altogether much more comfy. and the faster car. so what is not to like? except that it is game over for the GTB in 2 years.

I really like the 488GTB, it grew on me and I had the chance to drive it and to listen to it's exhaust/engine sound live. Made a big difference. In my opinion, the best sounding V8 Biturbo engine sportscar right now on the market.

Of course I would get a 488GTB over the RS but only because I am not much of a track addict anymore, so I would enjoy different things with this car.

However, don't forget that the 488GTB is already "old"...so maybe get a cheaper used one until the GTO arrives and then...switch. Smiley

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

final: i just informed my ferrari dealer that i will take the 812 allocation for 812. the GTB would have been a real compromise now.

    thanks friends, that helped!!!!!!

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

A GT3 RS is for a diehard Porsche fan who tracks often. Otherwise, there is nothing about it that would make it better than a 488. 488 will be faster in the real world, more comfortable, better looking, and even less in-your-face. It will handle all road conditions better as well given that it can do all of the above on less than Cup2 tires.

Good you did not take the GTB . It looks already old, never looked pretty , never had the Italian Ferrari look, actually it looks like it' s a Ferrari designed by Germans Smiley and it is actually old underneath too . The GTO would of been another story , but 2020 is too long for a wait .

The 812 looks stunning Smiley And as you do not track and like to do long distances with your wife , it should be perfect Smiley

Good choice. I agree with some other comments, if you are not track addicted, there is no point inhaving a GT3 RS.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Peter, you don’t track your cars. The GT3 RS makes little sense and surely at some point you get tired of the ricer look. In that regard the 488 GTB or 812 make way more sense. Personally I would look for a used TdF that you could get immediately and not look back, then put your name on the list for the 488 GTO. Then I would get a McLaren just for fun and to offer an alternative once and a while, or a Hurracan for bad weather days.

The 812 is pretty much the perfect car for what you're looking for I think. Stupendously fast, continent crusher that your wife won't mind spending time in, can handle enough luggage for more than an afternoon and is still satisfying to drive.

Insane. The Superfast is much cheaper and probably even the "better" car, at least better drivable. Smiley

Agree - I was not proposing for a moment that someone should pay up for a TDF in the secondary market.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

Just get the best gt car with v12, all the rest is a diffrent world, the v12 sound, the speed, the gt feeling that makes you ride long trips with your wife, do 350 on the autobahn, 0-200 in ca 8 sec, you have everything you can dream of!

since you are not using the car for track days....then you already have the best option.

    buy the 812

If I had a car collection (and could afford it Smiley), the TDF would be in it for sure. This is a car which scares me a little bit and I would understand it as some sort of a challenge, when I'm in the mood. Smiley The TDF is a monster. Smiley

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

I signed an order for the 488 VS a couple of days ago. However, it seems quite unlikely, that I will get one. But worth a try, I guess.

If I don't get an allocation = nothing happens. If I get one = car would not loose money probably (depending on world economy at that point of time, of course).
