    Re: TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION

007GT3, that would really [beep] the crap out of me! Total disrespect because he was probably jealous knowing that he could not afford a car like yours. Totally unprofessional (my brother is a cop in the Marin County Sheriffs Dept).

Just got back from a run from Ventura to Monterey, Redwood City and back. Put nearly 900 miles on the car. Average speed most of the time was 80-85+. Lots of CHPs in the usual places along that route and I saw lots of people pulled over.

Northern California CHP tend to ticket more than their Southern counterparts. Actually, in general that holds for the local police as well. Based on my experience.

An extra tax is all speeding tickets are. What would the founding fathers do if they had Porsches back then?

Personally I think there are a lot more nefarious & dangerous characters in the world that require more attention than Porsche owners.

I just got a 2-point, +19 MPH @ $150 USD speeding ticket the other day and the cop had the nerve to hand me the ticket and then slap the side of my Porsche not once, but twice (very hard) then he said, "Have a nice day."

I WAS A VICTIM OF FINANCIAL PROFILING!

Where were you stopped? So far only stopped once by CSP on I25 near Castle Rock - no front plate. Got a warning. I25 between Denver and Colorado Springs is really live with CSP.

    Re: TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION

I was pulled over going with the flow of traffic at about 85mph heading to my place in Santa Barbara. When he stoppd me I said "Hello officer, what's the problem?" his repy "You know what you did wrong" "Ummmm...... Hmmmm no not really" I reply. "Well young man, you were speeding, 82 in a 65. I told him that I was only going with the flow of traffic ( and I mean all three lanes) and I am very sorry. Then I proceeded to ask him why he didn't pull over the 25 yr. old rattle trap with what appears to be acorns holding on the wheels for going 90 and swerveing through traffic! The officer chuckled and actually let me off with a warning! I am now 7 for 7 in my driving career! No tickets! I'm sure that will change soon. Mabey all we need to do is go to comedy school, and humor our way out of tickest!

    Re: TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION

The Denver PD loves me. This year I have given their coffers just under $400 bucks. Downtown Denver primarily. They even gave me a parking ticket this year for "parking further than 18" from the curb".

    Re: TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION

Got a warning for going 69 in a 65 near Springfield Ill. while on a non-stop 1400 miles trip from KC to Montreal. He stopped us for 30 minutes! I was planning on not stopping more than 15 minutes total for the entire trip!

His excuse was that his sargent had seen a black 911 (like mine I guess) going 85 10 miles earlier. It was not me. It was a load of crap. A total fool. He actually asked if I had a trunk in the back (to search it, I guess). I should have let him search the trunk 'in back'. He would have found the stolen 911 engine his sargent was looking for.

Anyway, it was a first after almost 28 years of 911 ownership. Times are changing.

I hear Illinois is tough, but fess up - how fast were you going? only 69?

That is the scarry thing. I was really only going 69 and that is what he tagged me for.
Now for most of the rest of the trip I was going much faster, right past speed traps.

Maybe I was going too slow.

I drive that stretch of the 101 a lot between Ventura and SB. They seem to have stepped up their motors as well. Thankfully, the BMW bikes they use have a rather distinctive headlight pattern, so at least at night they're easier to see.

Uh, I bet you weren't doing 85 in your FJ 40--unless you have 350 in it

Re: First speeding ticket with 997S

Why did it cost you $450? My speeding tickets have all been around $100. Carpool violation and running a red light seem to me the high ticket items.

If I recall the actual fine (ticket) was $380. The additional fees were for on-line traffic school ($20) and $50 for the city's administrative fees and processing the ticket through traffic school. That was pure B.S.

When did you get a $100 speeding ticket? It must have been quite a while ago as I believe fees have gone up considerably over the past several years.

Re: First speeding ticket with 997S

Last year in a Los Angeles courtroom. Little over $100 for it.

So the lesson here is go fast but never through a 'left turn on red light"!
