    Other Good Uses For Aventadors...

... now that Lamborghini's designers had relocated the battery to a more accessible location (to get to it on the Murci, you had to jack the car up,  remove the rear tire, and then remove the wheel liner. Smiley), Aventadors now have another more practical use ... Smiley

Re: Other Good Uses For Aventadors...

hmmmm.... might be the other way round that the Porsche is lifting up the Aventador? .... ;)

Re: Other Good Uses For Aventadors...

Clearly this owner is just charging both German cars to cover jumping the Bentley wink

Nah, I saw the caption from the guy who posted it. It's his Uncle's garage. They were going to take both cars for a ride but P's battery was flat so he decided to wheel up the Avie and use it for a jump vehicle.

All this outlay on cars and no trickle chargers cheeky

Really OT but, I like the Mulsanne a lot better than the Phantom, imo somehow it has more character.

That doesn't make the slightest difference. A car's ethnicity is based on its know-how, development engineering and construction. Jaguar is owned by Tata but Indian it is not! The same applies to Lamborghini, RR and to a lesser extent (to the measure of them using VW group engines on some models) Bentley.

The difference is that Lamborghini and Bentley have German engineering standards now, not Italian or British as in the past, and consequently they have been transformed. They function and perform impeccably with excellent reliability. The ethnicity of the engineers (and I expect they are a multinational group) or the location of production are not very relevant.

Re: Other Good Uses For Aventadors...

I agree, Lambo's made a 180º turn after Audi bought it (reliability, quality, practicality, handling, etc), so there must be a lot of german in the engineering in the case of Lamborghini, and not just the Gallardo with its engine, tranny, etc

Re: Other Good Uses For Aventadors...

You seem to forget that the italian owned Ferrari has displayed higher engineering integrity than the german owned Lambo. Lamborghini was a "sloppy" company, not because it was run by Italians but because that was its corporate culture. VW never had supercar know-how anyway. They just tightened things up (any good manager would have done that, be it German or Peruvian) and the Italians delivered! Plain and simple!

Yes, one of Ferrari's latest model just goes up in flames due to wrong/wrongly applied insulation material. The epitome of engineering integrity  or "sloppiness" Smiley

Re: Other Good Uses For Aventadors...

Lambo has been like that all its life and a manager tightning things up won't change that so simply, if it were that simple many manufacturers would still be with us today. Not only does Lambo actually share a lot of engineering with VAG like we see between the Gallardo and R8 for example (chassis, engines, gearbox, etc), but the philosophy of the company changed noticeable after Audi's takeover, part of the hand work may be from SantAgata but much of how things should be designed and built, the R&D and testing, etc is clearly VAG. Its not about italians vs germans in general. The influence of audi is obvious if you look at the cars themselves compared to the pre-audi era. And its turning into a great marriage as we can see.

Engineering integrity goes beyond unusual "exotic" looks, HP figures, 0-200kmh and lap times. It is also about choice of materials, exhaustive testing, longevity under heavy use, production and quality control methods  etc. etc. The VW  Group might not have manufactured a "supercar" before buying Lamborghini but they knew very well how to make excellent automobiles with high engineering standards. This is what Lamborghini and Bentley benefited from  and were transformed into excellent products in  their respective fields.

Older and neglected cars with improper or inadequate maintenance could very well burn. But the Ferrari fires are a unique case for such an expensive brand offering cars practically out of the box with such a serious omission which also potentially jeopardizes human life . Even cars of the Lada, Dacia or Tata Nano category wouldn't be excused in similar failure circumstances.

There are numerous cases of burnt exotics. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, R8s and Carrera GTs have all burned down! You seem to bypass this simple fact though mate. wink
