GT63S is 2045kg officially, what is the E63S?

    1950...so it is true...over 90(95) kg more...ouch.

Official weight for the GT63S is 2120kg

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

Press release says 2045 but it will vary, with fluids, without, etc.

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

    ive:

Official weight for the GT63S is 2120kg

Ouch, you are right...this is the official weight, I finally found it. Smiley

So this makes the GT 63 S 170 kg heavier than the E63 S. Smiley

I guess we know now the reason for the power upgrade. Smiley

My other guess is (since the AMG GT 63S seems to be a fraction of a second faster from 0-100 kph than the E63 S) that they changed the gear ratio, so the car is super fast in the lower speed range and not that fast above 200 kph. Just a wild guess though.

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

If you are going to take the tune road, with Renntech, Weistec or similar, the E63S is a better choice as you can reach the same power you could in GT but with that much weight difference the results could be felt even by the seat of the pants.

Not sure I am going to tune the car, it is a lease and dealer isn't OK with it. Will probably leave it stock, this is my family car. Smiley

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Becomes Fastest 4-Door Coupé On The ‘Ring With 7:25.41 Lap

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bgLjcX6NU4

    ........................Jaguar XE Project 8: 7:21.23
    Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+: 7:25.41
    .......................Alfa Romeo Giulia QV: 7:32
    ..............Porsche Panamera Turbo: 7:38

One thing they don’t like is people calling the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé a sedan. Leaving aside the fact that the car is technically a five-door liftback, Mercedes needed to find a category that would allow the AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ to claim Nürburgring honors.

Notice that Mercedes avoided using the term “four-door sedan,” because of marketing incompatibilities (and probably the quicker Jaguar XE SV Project 8). However, the carmaker also avoided using the term “four-door coupé,” which is rather curious.

Just to be on the safe side, Mercedes has proclaimed the AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ as “the fastest fully-fledged four-seater production car to ever conquer the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.”

Why “fully-fledged,” then? Probably as a snub to Jaguar, whose XE SV Project 8 is a limited-run special with a production of 300 units. In contrast, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is only limited by market demand.

More water to my mill that performance has become mostly irrelevant except for hyper sport cars.

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

MB Beverly Hills had the car on display.

Very well put together, sitting in it felt like it fit me as well as a well worn leather glove.

Felt higher quality then Panamera Turbo. Sorry for crappy pics.thumbnail_IMG_0001.jpgthumbnail_IMG_0003.jpgthumbnail_IMG_0004.jpg

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

    Nah.

    Doesn't do it for me.

We have several mercs in our family, same sausage different lengths

Nothing special about this (look wise, who gives a sh*% about the Nurbumwhatevr lap time, there are better tools for that measurement)

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

way overpriced for what it is

    depreciation will be massive

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

I love it. I also love what sfo said about it massively depreciating on the secondhand market. Although even if it takes a hit, it would still probably be cheaper to buy a used 911.

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

What normal car doesn’t have massive depreciation these days anyway?

    Just look at Panamera.

Fresh trade at my dealer, a 2015 Turbo S with MSRP of $248k with 5k miles now for sale asking $105k.

    Yep. Smiley

Interior is very nice and sporty, exterior is completely out of my (taste) league, I like the standard E63 much better, even if it may look a bit boring at times. The AMG GT Coupe reminds me too much of the Panamera, can't help it. Also, the weight is just insane, over 150 kg (170 or so...) more than my E63, I just don't get it. Smiley

Engine is a treat though, no doubt.

Re: AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (2018)

Separate but similar topic.  There's a rumor floating around on Motor1.com that AMG is exploring having a GT 53 2-door based on the inline 6 hybrid motor.  While one has been looking at the AMG GT C, the smaller motored 53 variant does have merit as the car has more accessible performance for most of the driving envelop.

It did the ring in 7:45 a record for a four door sedan.

Actually it did the Nordschleife in 7:25... Smiley

The E63 S AMG Estate(!) did the Nordschleife in 7:45 but the values are barely comparable since the 7:25 was a factory  run with an "optimized" car. I a real life environment, I think that Sport Auto would do slightly under 7:40 min in the GT 4-door. We'll see...

Btw: My local dealer has one in stock, with some sort of matte blue painting, ceramic brakes, sport seats, etc., very similar to my E63 S AMG. Price tag? 211k EUR. Ouch. My car is 163k. Not worth it.

I don't think the AMG brand can support the 4 door GT, based on a humble E class ..

more so now there is an A35
