Long time lurker checking in . Good to see some familiar faces .

loving the idea of this car . Unlike may on here I hope it stays clean and uncluttered . The more "normal" this car looks the better . πŸ‘€

Welcome!  I like a simple look too, but don't mind some retro 1967 cues...

Yes sir , couldn't agree more . Some little touches here and there would be great . I may be getting an R [its between me and one other person at my dealer] but will miss Geneva and have been out of the loop for a few months so These updates are fantastic . My preference is for this car to only stick out to car people , ideally non car folk will see "another 911". Let's see .

Since RC states all cars will be white, I am hoping Porsche will differentiate them by having buyers choose either red, green or blue  for its stripe/ side lettering and , most importantly, matching wheel color ..a la '72/73 Carrera RS !

GTS is an easy high value parts bin model used to renew car journalist and therfore buyer " buzz" when the " gotta have it " factor fades from the regular S model by latter part of its second year. No way with VW  's looming massive 50-100 billion dollars of emissions cheat liabilities  will they budget a new paradigm for what a GTS represents ...as that would also affect / create unwanted buyer indecision vis a vis lucrative " NA 991.2 GT3 " sales by having back seats and transmission choices also !

Makes sense. In the 991.2 they can take the Carrera S and push the boost and voila! GTS. Why bother with another unique n/a engine... Plus in acceleration the S would be faster than the GTS... Porsche would just avoid all the headache and make more money sticking with a turbo engine.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

With the price they charge the minimum they could do is add PDK and the sport gizmos for free, and maybe even put ceramics all around to get rid of steel brakes...

Very good also. Gearing up for my new local track. Then add a whole bunch of 918 Spyder Circle events and that equals to a busy schedule too in addition to all regular stuff.

You taking THAT RSR in your avatar to Spa? Wow, that will be a treat!

Btw, saw the real thing. Can not say much more...

    Oh, there will be a 991.2 GT3...

it looks very wide at the back .. RS/turbo extra wide rear?

kreso, will there be a GT3RS 991.2 or only the GT2RS 991.2? cheers peter

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

    Peter,

Only special 991.2 GT2 RS as far as I heard.

But, 991.2 GT3 will be more then enough for all NA fans.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

kreso, thanks. i was just worried about depreciation of my rs. are you happy with your gt3? p

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

So, from "someone in the know", is this white car in front of the factory, the final deal or we can expect something different?

I didn't state anything. Only heard that there will be one color only, which sounded quite odd to me but... Smiley

Keep in mind that everything posted right now is based on rumors or some very limited information we already got. There is a press embargo in effect (not for us though, we never agreed to any embargo agreement, just to make it clear and we do not officially get embargoed press information from Porsche) but out of respect for Porsche, I won't be the first one to break it. There will be others... (like always).

If someone wants to post the whole thing (press info), go ahead, we won't stop you. No problem for us but could be a problem for the person who posts it.

Another possibility would be to pass the information on to a third party and this third party posts it, we have no problem with that. Smiley

Just keep in mind that last time this happened (991), the user who posted it got contacted by Porsche's legal department. Smiley Not that they really can do something about it if that person isn't involved with Porsche, the press or anything related to Porsche dealerships/organization.

This is exactly what is going to happen. The new bi-turbo charged 3.0 l engine is good for up to 500 hp and even more as far as I heard (with mods of course). Smiley

991.2 GT3 seems to be a sure thing, with n/a engine and with 490-495 hp (a tiny bit lower than GT3 RS...maybe).

I still haven't given up the hope for a wingless GT3 but so far... Smiley Smiley
