GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

I'll probably get hated for this, and I know the conditions were bad, but the Gallardo isn't exactly significantly faster than stock AMG V8 Kompressor car, be it the CL55, S55, E or even SL.

What it does do, is give you a fast Lamborghini sportscar thats relatively affordable, (I don't think AMG can quite do that right now)

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

    Bilal
put the link of the scans, RC will kill you!

My comments on article : as bad as usual this poor unsensed article. I don't see any quality except for a couple of pictures.
What is the sense of testing a car on the ROAD and PLUS that on a WET road! But that's EVO!
However, I like more and more... the Gallardo........

    ......SV*

    *which I still dream...!

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

Its on my webspace, so only the 56K'ers will kill me

A lightweight and hardcore version like a Gt3 RS or 360CS would be better, but that could hurt Murcielago sales, in price and performance!

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

Given EVO's penchant for eulogising Pcars...the article is remarkably balanced.

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

what happens when you drive a Gallardo over a speed bump or ramp? looks like a nasty smack

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

dealer here has gallardos coming out of all orfaces.

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

I like evo - last year the took a Murcielago on handmade winter tyres to the Alps...

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

My choice would be the Murcielago with e-gear, fast as ****, looks and sounds good, much much better than Gallardo, I mean who likes 62mph in 1st gear and then 95mph in 2nd and all the other 4 gears sandwiched between 95mph?

The Gallardo can't even do 200mph!

And the sound of the Gallardo is most disppointing, kind of like a Modena but with a huge muffler making it sound just generic at best.

Murcielago is awesome in every respect, cabin and build quality is susceptible...but 205mph out of the box, for 160K GBP? i'm not complaining...

See Brunner, I hijacked my own threrad...

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

What the heck do you have to go 200 mph for? All the fun i've ever had in a vehicle was at much lower speeds than the top speed, no matter if it was a motorcycle, quad, snowmobile, car, truck, boat, or bicycle. As far as i''m concerned, the top speed is one of the stupidest reasons for buying a car.

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

To each his own, not every car can do 200mph.. and well, those that can at least deserve a little respect....

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

Yes i agree that they do deserve respect, but my main point was that the Gallardo should not be written off because it can "only" do 190....i realise however that my previous post was a little over-zealous....i enjoy the odd high-speed romp as much as the next guy, and yes, being able to do 210+ in an Enzo does sound mighty enjoyable.

Sorry if i came off a little strong

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

No need for apology, were' cool,

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

It's really funny how people can compare a car thats been partially unchanged since the year 2000 to a car that was made in 2003/2004. Yet the 996 Turbo still holds its ground and the X50 would eat the Gallardo...I'm sorry but the Gallardo fails to impress me

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

Spoken like a true Porsche person. My sentiments entirely.

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

I actually thnk the Gallardo is like a "German built Modena". And there is nothing wrong with that. You see with a Porsche you get a raw but still refined car thats built solidly with very little engine noise, grips like no other, lightweight, and very usable (relatively).

With the Modena, you have a very very raw car with unbelievable enigne sound, very light chassis and steering, though the RWD slightly encourages oversteer when pushed, and unforgiving if used daily, but an unrivalled emotional driving experience.

Now, wouldn't you like a car with the grip and build of the 911 with all the emotional involvement that a Modena brings, and something faster than the two?

    Gallardo....

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

Gallardo maybe faster than the Normal 996TT but the XD50 would be a problem for it

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

    Excellent article

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

    Thanks

Re: GALLARDO VS 996T EVO MAGAZINE UK...

With all of this I can't help but wonder just how the 887TT will stack up against the Gallardo?? Especially if the car is just a mere face lift????

I always loved the Gallardo and I really think that it is a serious competitor for the 996 Turbo. The 997 Turbo will be a different story. All recent rumors indicate that the new 997 Turbo will have a 5 at the beginning in the power figure.
Rumors also indicate that the weight will stay the same and that Porsche plans to make the 997 Turbo setup even more sportier. Facelift? I really don't understand why people see the 997 as a facelift? It is a completely new car and as soon as the technical specs are available, people will realize it.
Of course it is based on the 996 because the 996 had a huge success and lately, the quality was at a very high level too.
So please guys, forget about the rumored 998 and forget about the facelift story, the 997 is a completely new 911.
It might not be such a huge step as from the 993 to the 996 but it is definetely much more than a facelift.
Porsche couldn't risk to make the 997 look completely different than the 996 and they couldn't wipe away the 911 sillhouette. I know that some people expected a more spectacular design but why change a winning team?
The drop in 911 and Boxster sales has been also caused by the Cayenne, even if Porsche officials won't acknowledge it.
With a 4-door sports sedan, 911 and Boxster sales will probably drop even more. One reason why Porsche should try to make the 987/997 more sporty because customers already have a comfort alternative with the Cayenne and later on the 4-door sports sedan (Cayarra? ).

Exactly, like I said before, "If it aint' broke don't fix it." And one thing I know for darn sure, there is nothing bad about this car looking somewhat like the 993, not only was the 993 a 911 , the 993 was DAMM good looking car!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that Porsche will not read that RC, don't give them any good ideas!(sarcasm/humor)

    Excuse the "887" I meant 997!!!!!!!!!!!!!
