    The 550 is already very good. To SUBSTANTIALLY improve performance further, you need to go at least for the rt12 kit with 650 HP. Cost is around 85000 EUR. Tiptronic should be slightly cheaper.

    "Problem" with the rt12, besides the cost: it can be installed only at RUF factory in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. There are some exceptions but I suppose this would add even more cost to the whole thing.

    i agree 100%..Smiley...RUF is by far the best..manthey is specialist in suspensions..all the others tuners is another league...9ff has some issues with reliability....(at least with some cars here in greece)

    Has to be the bigger VTGs on the Ruf 600 package spooling up slower, 80kph in 5th is about 2100rpm on the 997tt so a bigger compressor wheel probably takes fractionally longer to spool up...

    But the turbos are 48mm clipped wheels...are we seeing a delay in spool?  Or failure to reach turbo threshold?

    As Ruf stated in a recent test of the RT12S he has reached the limits of power with the 680/700hp interations of the Mezger turbo in the RT12S and CTR3......

    RS Tuning is in a different league completely, they develop the Mezger for endurance racing and continue to advance the possibilities for those that can fight their way through the non existant customer service and extreme pricing.

    4.2 litre special crankshaft high compression Mezger twin turbos with advanced intercooling and 750hp at 1 bar boost only are RS Tuning's current ultimate offerings.......

    bb, I don't know the intricacies of what exact sizing the compressor wheels are but if it is a bigger VTG it would be reasonable to think it is lag.... When we get some dry weather I will try the same test with mine and its bigger VTGs, we have numbers for 80-120 for stock GT2 and Manthey MM600 with stock VTGs....

    I have installed the Ruf 600 kit on my previous 997tt, lag was greatly reduced from there 550hp kit , there was basically no lag an full boost is available from as low as 1850rpm comparing to 2000-2100 rpm on there stage 1 package. i also agree with RCs opinion that there 550hp kit is to good to improve price and performance wise......

     

    now i'am having second thoughts whether to go the RS tuning or RUF route on my GT2.............

    The only way to really measure lag is with a test like the 80-120kph starting at low revs and comparing times...
