    Sports seats or no?

Im debating between the sports seats option vs. the std. seats. The only advantage I can think of is support in hard conering, which Im sure the std. seats are just as capable of providing. Any helpful advice and or comments would be appreciated.

    Re: Sports seats or no?

Sport seats do make a difference, and if you are looking for lumbar support you have to go with adaptive sport seats.

The standard seats have lumbar support.

    Re: Sports seats or no?

The new " adaptive " sports seats sound good on paper but their implementation leaves me disappointed.
It's done with air bladders . The feeling is as if the bolsters around you are more " puffy " when you adjust them .I'm not sure why PAG even bothered to go through the trouble and come up with this product/solution. The proper way would be swiveling in/out deeper bolsters half way between std seats and euro GT3 buckets in support so the owner can " snug up" should he take the canyon route home from work one evening . (Track guys will always install deeper, lightweight one piece buckets .)
This leads me to assume the intermediate choice for the US , the "non-adaptive" sports seats would be no better or worse in this regard.

    Re: Sports seats or no?

I have the same question regarding the sport seats in the 997. I had sport seats in my 993 Turbo which I loved. Very comfortable compared to the standard power seats. When the 996 came out I considered sport seats again. But once I sat in them I found the 996 sports seats very uncomfortable. I should clarify. The sports seats in the main model line Carrera and C4S, the sport seats in those cars were very uncomfortable. The sport seats in the 996 GT3 I like. Is it my amagination, but Porsche seems to have designed two different sports seats. Am I right about this?
Anyway, I am very curious about the sport seats in the 997. I would love to hear from people who have 997s with this option. Thank you for all the great info.

    Re: Sports seats or no?

Make sure you _sit_ in them before you decide to order. The ones in the Boxster are a nightmare for guys with a certain height and shouder width.

    Re: Sports seats or no?

I just sat in the new sport seats and they are great! Definitely recommended - much improved over 996 sport seats!

Were they the regular 997 sports seats or the " adaptive " ones. On the adaptive ones, the upper wings at least are farther apart now so as not to pinch my shoulder blades like the 996 sports .

I find the adaptive sports seats to be just perfect. Of course they add some weight to the car but you can't install racing shells anyway because of the airbags in the seat. The adaptive sport seats are the closest thing to racing shells you can get right now from Porsche.

For serious track racing, people might want to wait for the 997 GT3.

Regarding the sport seats (non-adaptive!): they are better than the standard seats and they can't be compared to the "old" sport seats people know from the 996 or 986. Porsche improved the 997 seats substantially, even the standard seat is much better now.

    Re: Sports seats or no?

Anyone know if driver side lumbar support is an available option on the Standard seat or Non-Adaptive sport seat?

    Thanks

    Re: Sports seats or no?

If you get the power seat pack then you do get lumbar support, otherwise you're stuck with plastic grips to make your adjustments.

I decided to opt. against the sport seats becasue I dont have any real use for them. They dont provide any more room or comfort im sure other than the fact that you're being gripped onto when you hit hard corners, which I'll probably encounter, but I really think the std.+ power seats will be enough. + I save a grand or so? Haha.

Thanks for the advice + input! Much appreciated

    Re: Sports seats or no?

standard seats in yk do not have lumber nor do sport seats - you have to go for either electric or full electric

    Re: Sports seats or no?

Do the non adaptive and adaptive look the same, there were a couple dealers at the RAmer club race and nobody knew the answer

    Re: Sports seats or no?

I just went through the 997 Owners Manual; the difference between Electric seats and Adaptive sport seats is that in Adaptive sport seats there are adjustments for the seat cushion side bolsters and adjustments for the backrest side cushion bolsters, but both have lumbar support. In terms of looks both the sport seats and adaptive sport seats look same, since they both have side bolsters.

    Re: Sports seats or no?

    question ...
Are the sport seats (380 euros) similar to adaptive seats (2550 euros)?
Adaptive seats have the rear painted in Alu look ,and the sport seats?
this option is avaible from october ...i need to know earlier.
my car is driven only by me ,I don't need memories or other toys ...I prefer spending my money in PCCB and exaust ....
My dealer don't know the difference ...normal.
