    cjv, you are and always will be the person who will first find out the limits of the 996tt. I haven't seen connecting rods this bent out of shape.

    Killer 's new motor (which will be finished in October) will be testing the case. The above damage was done while a just under 1.9 second 0-60 time was recorded.

    I'm surprised that the engine didn't grenade. How did you discover this? Through a normal tear-down? Or from the sound of the connecting rod hitting the counterweight?

    Do you think this was caused by detonation?

    Now FixedWing, I said ultimate power, not detonation. Tell me if you see any detonation on the pistons.





    As for the discovery, we heard a ticking coming from one bank. At first we thought it was valve train related as the leak down check was perfect. The ticking really wasn't very loud.

    A little explaination is in order. Besides motor mods, Killer has a 3.16-1 first gear ratio (don't need to shift into second to get to sixty), steel syncros, special axles and joints, oil cooled tranny and differencial, 10 X 18 with 275/35 Hoosiers up front and 12.5 x 18's with 335/30 Hoosiers in the rear.

    I almost forgot, there is Tilton three disc clutch rated for 1000 hp.

    your 996tt did 0-60 in less then 1.9s......... umm somebody get lingenfelter on the phone so i can laugh at him LOL.... man thats insane... wat engine mods do you have? if you dont mind me asking... im very curious because your car is INSANE... oh yea... how much hp is "Killer" delivering??

    Only if you can phone heaven. Lingenfelter passed away this year.

    I'm impressed. It must have been quite a decision to tear apart a running engine with no obvious signs but for a little ticking noise.

    So what will you replace the connecting rods with?

    It would really take to long to write them all down. If you are really interested there is fifty plus pages under cjv/ s car go thread on 6speedonline in the 996tt/GT2 forum. The last time Killer Angel was dyno'ed she was about 730 hp to the rear wheels. We were about ready strap her to the dyno. We were making the 0-60 run to adapt the ECU.The reason for the dyno run was we added larger hot side turbo's and 1000 cc injectors. We are guessing she was putting out somewhere around 750-760 to the rear tires before the rods bent.

    Actually,

    It took four weeks before we decided to tear the motor down.

    First, we performed a leak down test. It was perfect. Then we replaced one of the vario cam solenoids. The ticking was still there. Then we replaced the tensioners. We still had the ticking sound. Then we replaced the other vario cam solenoid. No luck. At that point a oil freeze plug blew out between the motor and the tranny. We pulled the oil filter and found metal in the filter when we opened it up. Next we checked the valve train. It was perfect. Then we opened her up an behold, all the rods were bent to one degree or another.

    The new motor will be a true 996. That is 996 rwhp. The bottom end will have a GT3R crank, GT1 oil pump, special Pauter rods designed for the GT3R crank and designed for 1000 hp, Woosner 104 mm pistons and sleeves.

    On the left is the 104 mm Woosner piston. On the right is the 100 mm stock Porsche 996tt piston. This motor will be finished by the end of October.

    The 1994 Ferrari Formula 1 made 2.2sec to 0-62 and 4.2 to 0-124.
    I find strange that your car can make almost the same thing with more weight and less power than a F1. That said , I find your project amazing as I have been follow it for years on the net.

    Killer weighs in at just over 3050 pounds. The awd does have something to do with the standing acceleration. I know she would be more than a few seconds slower from 0-124.

    The pic below shows 90 mm throttle body, S Car Go 90 mm liquid CO2 jacketed "Y" piping and NOS wet injectors.
