Re: Very easy to decide. There are three reasons not to buy

I would prefer another Turbo again RC, a used one! You know how cheap they can get and you might not loose too much money if you swap it for an early 997turbo.. Honestly if I had the opportunity to use one everyday I had do the same. I would select one in a distinctive color. I'm wondering if it's safe to go for a second hand, but there''s proof you can come a long way on one engine and gearbox if you watch Pierre's posts. Anyway lovely pic Christian! Makes us remind what it's all about....

    hi christian,

i had a problem with your logical thinking a time ago, when you told us that you sold your 996 tt because of your daughter.
you had your ML55 at that time and you still have it now (AFAIK) - so where is the need to buy a second SUV??
this car should be fast enough to carry your kids around.

my choice: sell your E55 and buy a low-mileage-second-hand-GT2.

There is one problem with the ML55: it isn't fast enough for me anymore. And the Cayenne Turbo is much more fun to drive. I sold my 996 Turbo because of my second child, not because of my daughter. It doesn't make sense to drive around a 3 months old baby in the back of a coilover kit equipped 996 Turbo with sport exhaust and single mass flywheel. You're probably too young to understand that, most people in Germany get a station wagon (Kombi) when they get kids and "race" a 110 HP turbo diesel around the corners (happens to me almost every day...frustrated fathers and mothers... ).
The E55 is a fine car and very very fast but it has two problems: 1. luggage room isn't sufficient for two kids and 2. I can't drive it in winter time (even with winter tires and LSD, the traction is horrible).
The Cayenne Turbo would also allow me an "easy" re-entry into the Porsche sports car world in 3 years. It makes a difference to drive around a 3 months or 3 years old kid in the back of a Porsche.
I guess people who have kids understand me better.

Why don't I keep a sports car in my garage just for fun? Good question. When would I be able to drive it? I'm not a garage man, I'm a street man. I want to drive my cars, not look at them. I really hurts if you have a sports car sitting in your garage and you can drive it only for half an hour on the weekend and mostly during spring and summer time. Does this make sense? I don't think so. I have a job and I have a family, both are more important to me than any car. But I also want to have some fun and if I can have that fun together with my family, that's fine to me. The E55 proved to go into the right direction but I need more luggage room and winter capability. That said, the Cayenne Turbo is the only way to go right now.

...what about an audi RS6 then? ok -- i'm just kidding

well, i can't deny that your reasons to go for a cayenne turbo sound plausible to me now... and you are definitely a porsche guy. so let me put it this way: i'd rather get a cayenne than have no porsche at all.

sorry to talk rubbish again: the luggage room of your ML is bigger than that of the cayenne and the ML 's winter capability isn't that bad, right?

und chrischtian, i verstah di scho, koi probläm - aaah i wanted say, i'm from europe too and i know that every man who becomes a father has to buy a truck or at at least a greyhound-bus.

Re: Very easy to decide. There are three reasons not to buy

RC, I happen to think the Cayenne is one of the most beautifully distinctive cars on the road.
