You don't like the 997 design? Not exotic enough? Look here!

For those who find the 997 to be too boring or nothing really new, here is the ultimate 911 for them.
Nick, if you want to know where you can buy it, contact me.

    Yes it was

Re: You don't like the 997 design? Not exotic enough? Look h

...the current 997 body and interior are without a doubt a good successor to the 993. Having said that... it definitely wasn't a design that we should've waited 7 years for.

Don't understand how they can share the same interior with a car that costs 25K less. BMW doesn't do it, neither does Mercedes, nor Ferrari... oh that's right... at least the headlights aren't the same.

Re: You don't like the 997 design? Not exotic enough? Look h

I suppose it is a matter of economics. BMW and Mercedes produce considerably more vehicles than does Porsche. Ferrari charges considerably more for their cars. Porsche is not a non-profit organization. The choices, it seems to me, are to live with reality of what is produced by Porsche or seek another manufacturer's products. Another choice is to buy stock in Porsche AG and become a stockholder advocate for change.

Re: You don't like the 997 design? Not exotic enough? Look h

Yes it is a matter of economics...
Their profit margins are HUGE... we're not talking some profit, we're talking LOTS of profit. I would therefore like to see the product improved as opposed to the product staying the same and the bulk of the profits filling up their coffers. In other words the more you as the consumer say nothing at all the more the manufacturer will let it go.

Voice your opinions whether good or bad. They can be heard if it hits them in the right spot.

Have you sat in an S-class /CL class and then a C class ? There isn't much difference - both have plastic up the wazoo, similar switchgear, control knobs, econobox air outlets , steering wheel look and feel , etc...
Supposedly, the next gen S is to have a more luxurious interior , but it should never have degenerated in the past 12 years to this.

Re: You don't like the 997 design? Not exotic enough? Look h

Just went to the 997 launch party in HK a couple days ago and saw the real thing. There was a Silver Carrera S and a Matellic Grey Carrera. I was pretty disappointed with the new look, the interior is also pretty boring. Feel like "Back to the future". I personally think the 996 interior is better. The 997 interior doesn't make me feel like I'm in a sport car, may be it is too roomy. Haven't got a test drive yet, but I think its performance should be better than its look. Hope 997 turbo will have more improvement.

You finally understand RC. It doesn't get much better than an RS.

On a related note, I remember you recently comparing your 997 S to your powerful 996 turbo and saying how the new car feels lighter and is more fun to drive because of it. That's all us purist people are talking about so try not to come down too hard on us just because we'd like to see the cars be more basic. Don't you think the 997 S could be even more fun less 300 pounds?

Re: You don't like the 997 design? Not exotic enough? Look h

Yep... I felt the same way.
The interior materials are better than the 996 but the design is to wide open... In other words it feels less like a cockpit and feels more like my Cayenne S. (which it shouldn't) I'm placing a lot of hope on the 997 Turbo and GT3.

Re: You don't like the 997 design? Not exotic enough? Look h

Yep I've sat in them all and the key is... there IS STILL a difference whether it is small or not and no matter how much plastic they use.

S-Class patrons don't want to pay for E-Class interiors and so on. I think Porsche's bottom dollar could EASILY fix this without too much overhead on their end. (We're talking hundreds of dollars per car, not thousands)
