    Nissan GT-R Nordschleife 7:38 lap video

    Sorry if off-topic post... but the GT-R is supposed to be a direct competitor (performance wise) to the 997 Turbo, and based on this, it seems that Nissan have a strong challenger.

    Nice vid. It is clear that it is a flying start, it is a closed track, but I wonder why the timing starts after the blue armco and ends before the blue armco?

    Porsche need to do MUCH BETTER for the face-lifted TT.

    Yeh, good luck with that. There is a 1 year waiting list in the UK here still for the Turbo coupe.

    Why would Porsche need to make any changes other than to satisfy the EU Greens that they are moving in a cleaner direction? (ie. Direct Injection)?

    I have a bad feeling that Porsche are still going to keep making the Turbo more for the GT buyers amongst us, as that's the biggest market

    I think they want to keep the GT and Track markets separate so they have different solutions for each.

    Having a Turbo that does the lot would undermine the GT2/GT3RS/GT3.

    So I think they will keep it principally aimed at GT road users, and won't care what others achieve on the track. Porsche's reply to such competition will be "well buy a GT2/GT3RS/GT3 then".

    This is the same 20.6 km track used by Sport Auto.

    Not all of the following laptimes are comparable. A full lap of the de:Nordschleife, bypassing the modern GP track, is 20.832 km long. Full uninterrupted flying laps can only be done in closed sessions and race events like Castrol-Haugg-Cup.

    During the industry testing sessions in which de:Sport auto records its "Supertest", the track can not be traveled at full speed past "Tribüne 13" (T13, grandstand 13) in order to allow safe access from the old exit/entrance there. Thus, Sportauto Supertests cover only about 20.6 km, which in average yields a 7 s shorter lap time compared to a full lap.

    There are 5 sections on the 20,600 meters long Supertest-Nordschleife:

    1st=3850 m
    2nd=4235 m
    3rd=4825 m
    4th=4846 m
    5th=2844 m
    =20600 m

    Pretty nice video except for the fact that a lot of the footage is too dark

    Wonder what tires are on the GTR, this is suppose to be a showcase video and me think they must have put some sticky rubber on. Regardless it was done on a cool, lighly damp track and the time is still impressive.

    Not sure about you guys, but I grew up playing PlayStation, so a Nissan GT-R is one of those cars that I loved. I am considering getting one, not a replacement but an addition, the GTR's price point makes it more of a competitior to the Z06 than the TT, in turn a bigger threat to the regular 911 than the Turbo.

    My feeling is that if I feel like a boy racer for the day, I will take out the GTR, and if I feel more sophisticated on another day, I will take out the Turbo, it's more like a companion car to the Turbo.

    Was WR's 7:40 time a hot lap as well?

    Try running a shorter track? That will always helps the lap times

    They are different cars IMO.

    Real track guys would not want a TT for that, so I don't think a much faster performance TT would undermine the GT2/GT3RS/GT3.

    Like the GT-R is not just a track car either, kind of like TT with different functions for daily and still fast at tracks.
