    Remember - 20 hp:

    1. is the difference between sunshine or rainy weather
    2. is the difference between high or low altitude
    3. is within the range of factory build deviation

    4. Is the additional power the engine outputs in white cars (related to point 3) indecision

    Re: Collected my GTS today

Is not much less than the x51 pack. I agree you wont notice much but if its cheap enough then every little helps. Normally its more how it feels than it goes against the clock and the x51 is in that category imo.

    Re: Collected my GTS today

Since having the SharkWerks 'Centre Muffler Independent Bypass', to give it's full title, fitted - I've found the car to be somewhat more lively, in addition to the aforesaid major improvement to the soundtrack!

There is a resultant increase of 12 HP plus 14 TQ, as well as 9 pounds in weight-saving - which probably explains it?

Take a peek at their excellent website section devoted to the 997.2 model range...

Yes and no - the x51 is different then just adding 20HP through software manipulation. It also includes different cam-shafts, etc. And even here - the X51 engines pushes stronger on higher revs. You don't feel that much difference in the lower end.

Yes. If you compare the power/torque curves for the standard and X51 engines it is only >6000 RPM you get much difference. So unless the engine is fully rev'ed (on a track or highway) not much will change in the experience. I think the X51 even has a small dip in the lower end compared to the standard, but I doubt it is noticeable.

I would not bother with any other power kit than the X51 and even so it is hard to justify that money Smiley

Yes I realise what you say as I have a GTS. My point is that although better resolved the x51 is expensive horsepower and the benefit is more the feel than outright performance stats and another 20 will add to it. John commented that the sharkwerks added a bit more hp an tq and probably the best final mod on a GTS as it doesnt play with the mapping.

You'll never noticed the difference in 20hp.

That may well be so - but a combination of more HP, more TQ plus a weight reduction does, it seems, make a difference..

I guess you got PDK? Otherwise I would suggest a lightweight single mass flywheel. This would make a big difference in first and second gear. Plus it sounds cool indecision

You'll notice it for like a week and then it will feel identical. Just my two cents.

Thanks, but yes I have PDK and, in any case, I really don't crave after any further mods - other than the grills which will be fitted tomorrow..Smiley

It's amazing how a few small improvements add up, a little bit more power, a little bit more torque and a little bit less weight - which is the theme of the GTS models. Smiley

Talking about White cars - there's been a remarkable turn-around in popularity over the last 11 years in Britain.  In 2004 just 0.68% of new cars were White, compared with 21.4% in 2015.  Black has remained popular whilst Silver, which held top spot from 2000 to 2008, has slumped to 6th most popular!  Red has also declined and is now down to 5th...

Source - Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders

For the third year in a row, white has been named as the UK’s most popular car colour. More than one-in-five new cars sold in 2015 were specified in this shade translating to more than half-a-million new white cars hitting the road. This is in stark contrast with its meagre 1.1 per cent share in 2007.

While it retains its the top position, it only improved its share compared to 2014 by 2.2 per cent compared to second place black’s 5.3 per cent. This means that, if this trends continue, black cars could soon retake the lead. Also making big gains was third place grey – popularised by German brands such as Audi and Mercedes – with an impressive 21.1 per cent gain translating to more than 400,000 new grey cars.

As far as white vs black is concerned, a few years ago I decided to create the best of both worlds...half and half...white car with black cab top, black mirrors and windshield frame.   indecision
