    Spoiler Scrapes

I have a couple small scrapes on the front spoiler. Can one sand visible marks, or another technique? I know I can just get another onee for under $200.

    TIA

You'll just have to learn how to handle steep driveways by driving in at an angle. Either that or just sucking it in and accepting the scrapes up front. I already have. That's why I didn't bother getting the spoiler lip painted. I eventually plan to replace the lip when there are more scrapes than I'd care for. For now, I'm not doing anything except driving into driveways carefully.

    same here.

    Re: Spoiler Scrapes

I scraped mine up in the first 10 miles......

    Re: Spoiler Scrapes

Mine scraped on the 1st fill up. Front spolier is painted but can't see any damage unless if you get on your knees. Let it be

Sleeping policemen are a pain ! Just like watching out for kerbing the wheels !

    Re: Spoiler Scrapes

It's part of life if you have a low sports car. I have the -20mm sports suspension so I am always scraping speed bumps etc. Just try to minimise any damage by going DEAD SLOW over them/hunting the least steep part of them/approaching them at an angle if need be etc etc.

    Re: Spoiler Scrapes

My 993C2 is lowered (~30mm) with H&R springs and I have less issues with it. The 997TT's snout is much longer and more easily scraped. I have used all the techniques mentioned and still get a few scrapes. Just wondering if anyone has tried sanding the lip where the scrape is slightly visable?

got a couple...200 bucks is cheap enough when they bother you to that point...even being careful your going to get a few...painted with scrapes would bother me more

We have alot of heavy truck traffic on our highways and roads here in Nova Scotia and that tends to raise the center of the road and lower the sides...so scraping happens here abit. I have a second unit ($250CND) and I'll replace it when after dozens of light filings it starts to look hagard. I use a fine file to correct the edge of the rub. Draw it along the raised plastic and orient the file inward. When your getting bothered by it's appearence after numerous repairs replace it. Mine obviously is not painted.
I lightly rub the bottom of mine 20 times or more mostly on approaching driveways or roads, took the scar away after each trip and I'm not even close to replacing it. It is highly resiliant...Just use a file.

    Re: Spoiler Scrapes

More importantly than going slow into/out of an incline is to take it at an angle. Straight into/out of an incline is gives you the least possible clearance. The more you can angle over a bump/incline the better.

    Re: Spoiler Scrapes

Does anyone know the clearance differences between a TT and a GT3/RS? GT3 must be getting their spoilers hammered because I think they are much lower.

    Re: Spoiler Scrapes

Exactly why they came unpainted from the factory, it's a wear item, like brakepads. Just replace it when you can't stand the scratches anymore. I already had my dealer ordered a couple of the lips in for me and my buddy.
