    Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

    Hello again,

i got my 997 cab and i have ordered my car without sport chrono. Is it possible to get the sport chrono functions without the clock for later build in.

    Thanks for your help...

Re: Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

    No!

Re: Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

No, resident experts claim Porsche will NEVER allow SC retrofits.

If you don;t like the wart, apparently you can easily remove the wart, stuff the clock into the dash and have a custom-made leather patch made for the dash.

Order SC and you won't regret having it; especially if you can make the wart gone.

Re: Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

The problem is, i got my car for a few weeks...

perhaps it is possible to get the SC with the clock for build in...?? But when it is possible it will be a lot of work....

Re: Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

I remember hearing a long time ago that it's possible to order SC without the clock as an exclusive option. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone on the board has actualy done so. But if you have your car already, I think you are SoL.

Re: Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

Why would you not like the clock? It is the single most appreciated interior-gadget by any passenger so far in my 997S - "Oooh, what is that thing on the dashboard?"... and then you give a long explanation of the wonderful timer with a quick counting demo.

It is useless, but has got a high "wow-factor"

Haven't you checked out our recommendation for Sport Chrono in many many posts because it isn't possible to retrofit it? Bad luck I guess.

The other point of view is it's a total poser thing since it's not a clock; it's a stopwatch meant for timing laps at the race track.

It's a little presumptuous to have to explain that and then admit that you've never been on a race track AND Porsche will void your warrenty if you race the car.

It's presumptuousness bothers me because it is in-your-face on the dash; kinda like like futon-shaped botoxed lips and big fake boobs.

Re: Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

that is funny. porsche gives you a stopwatch for timing laps. but will punish you for using it. kinda like catholic coed school

Re: Sport Chrono without the Clock....?

I have to admit that I would be just as happy without the "chrono" part,...but I wouldn't want to be without the "sports" and "plus" parts.
I usually drive in non-sport mode but I do enjoy the sport throttle map when I'm having 'fun' - I know it doesn't make the car faster but it makes the car more FUN.
As for the "plus" part - I like the ability to program the DRL and wipers,...I mean, this stuff should be standard on a 100K USD car!

Agree 100%. Nevertheless, who needs PITA dilemmas like that? I'd like to verbally abuse the marketing guy who insisted on the wart-ified dash.
