Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Nice numbers, but can't help being continually surprised at how fast the Corvette is for just the cost of special paint on some of these other cars.  There are spy shots showing a new even faster Vette coming soon (speculation of ZR-1) and there are continuing rumors of a change to rear-mid engine placement on the next generation too...

Had a closer look at that P1. It is a piece of art. The matte carbon inside, the outside carbon aero, the center console. It is truely fantastic, I wouldn't even care that it is a hybrid or not the fastest super car out there and get one today...

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Impressive. Just stepped out of the LT again after a spirited drive  - still buzzing. It really is outstanding. Incredibly fast and stable whilst all the time talking back to you and letting you know what's going on through the steering. I think I have finally got the hang of the McLaren brake feel too. No doubt about it - the best driver's car out there in the sub-hypercard category, and Yes that's including the 991.1 GT3RS.

Surprising how much faster the 918 is given its weight.....

Love that Mac stayed with hydraulic steering!

Nice they keep pushing the enveloppe...

    Shame on you koko,

That's another completely new car model from McLaren!!!

Same here - what car is this again? The resale values of the modern production McLarens will be a nightmare after the car bubble has burst. Don't say you have not been warned Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Resale value of Porsche or Lambo aren't better... Just maybe Ferrari holds better...

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

This is a >400.000€ car. No impact on any resale value! Even the opposite can happen. Mine 650s has only 38 hp less and some 100 kg more for much less money čśĆ

After so much Porsches I regret not buying a McLarrn earlier. We should drive the cars and not think about depreciation.

Also this isn't a model for sale:

'A McLaren spokesperson has contacted Motor1 to set the story straight. He states, "Special Operations is currently working on a customer commissioning based on the Super Series platform. This is a bespoke project that will not become a series production model but any more details are confidential at this stage." As a result, the vehicle will not be shown in Geneva.'

    McLaren 688 HS

    +13hp | -40kg | 25 cars

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I wonder where the 40kg came from. Maybe the active spoiler delete.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Spoiler looks horrible compared to the Standard car

Anyone else waiting for the 700 LT HS version?

That's how you order now cars at McLaren  . Every 6 month a new limited batch with a few more HP and some new deco . So everyone can have a special limited edition Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

This looks overdone.  Not a fan of the wing (don't you lose the airbrake functionality?), the roof scoop, or the canards.  The "standard" 675LT looks much better.

First of all, they have to introduce the "all new" McLaren 688 HS 18/08/2016 Edition Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I personally don't mind all the special edition cars. All they do is create more choice. Choice was never a bad thing.

25 people paid an obscene amount of money for these no doubt, and all 25 are happy.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I don't think the 25 buyers will be very happy when the 690 spider pops up next month.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Hey, you can build whatever you want if the check is big enough. No one forces anyone to buy anything.

If you want a more exclusive and better car than the 688 HS, bring a multi-million dollar check and they'll make you a one-off with 705 hp and radically different.

Everyone knows P14 is going out in probably a year anyway, so it's not like any of these guys expect to be on top of the food chain very long. As long as you buy what you like and buy it because you actually want it, you really can't lose. If you're buying it to be special or something like that, go call Pagani or buy a P1 or something.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Also, it's apparently not 40kg lighter. So really it's just more aero.
