    Have a 997.2 Turbo S considering buying a corvette z06 ( 2015)

    Guys

need your input here . I a very impressed with the new corvette and started thinking of booking a z06 for early 2015 model delivery . In comparison to the previous z06 I was dismayed with the quality of the interior and the plastics and cheap vinyl in it , but accordingly the engine was superb .

Poeple have told me that if you are driving a Porsche turbo s , you would never be able to accept. The finishing interior of the vetted or the reliability of the porsche in comparison to the vette .

Any experience of shifting from porsche to the new c7  ?

This is really a difficult decision. Have you driven the new C7 yet? The Z06 may be a performance monster but I kind of have my doubts that it will be as fast as your curren 997 Turbo S. Since nobody has any real life performance data, it is really difficult to tell. Also, your Turbo S had AWD, the Corvette is RWD. Many people who drove an AWD high performance car for years often underestimate the advantages of the AWD and how much they get used to it.

I am very open minded, I just got a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and I really love this car (best performance/cost value EVER) but I also have a 991 Turbo S and a Boxster S (981) in my garage, so...I don't know...I would probably miss a Porsche if I didn't have at least one in the garage (yes, I know this sounds stupid but... Smiley).

Good luck, the decision isn't easy, I know.

Frankly saying , you have the ideal mix of cars 4wd , Awd and 2 wheel rear drive . I agree with you on the Z06 and will probably wait and test drive it or test drive a C7 to understand Vettes , if i like them or not

I think the new z06 will blow a 997 TTS out of the water in every way. Especially if you live in the UAE.

Can't comment on the interior, but I always thought the 997 was shitty inside anyway. It looks terribly dated by now and wouldn't be surprised if a new Corvette has a better interior. Interiors just don't age well regardless of quality. Look at a 996, 360, 430, Gallardo, or whatever. All high-end cars that had seemingly nice interior for the time but would bottom of the barrel compared to a 991, 458, or Huracan.

Sorry but don't agree with your comparison of the porsche interior wether 996 , 997 or 991 to the corvette  . The previous corvette z06 had a non comparison interior to the 997 . It is by far no comparison in every sense . As for the new vette , the interior and reviews sound good but my skepticism will have to make me check the existing vette stingray and compare the interior , but I still feel it would never stand up to the porsche .

in the end , I would sacrifice my interior choice in some way as to experience the engine

    Re: Have a 997.2 Turbo S considering buying a corvette z06 ( 2015)

You might first enjoy driving the Corvette more than the 997TTS - the engine makes great sounds and it seems like fun and your service costs would be drastically reduced.  But warning, Corvettes have a low threshold of sudden over steer and if you are over 6' tall you won't like the view- the seats are mounted too high, no matter how you adjust them your view through the windshield will be heavily blocked by the sun visors.

If you haven't driven a Corvette before this is what it doesn't have that Porsche does have - the confidence to keep going faster and faster until it can't go any faster. Corvettes just don't have that kind of seat of the pants feel. They don't impart any real confidence to the driver when driven hard. They have no "magic."  You can compare all the numbers that you want to, but it just isn't the same experience at all.
