    Re: Paint protection film

All my cars have received PPF in the front and on the side over the last 10 years.

Even if not cheap (about 2.5K EUR if you want a good film and something well done), a must-have in my case since I track my cars, but it is anyway a mine part of the overall running costs ;-)

PPF in front is around 2k EUR in Germany, incl. front lights and half the roof, A pillars as well, also the top of my rear wing (Performante).

A complete PPF (everything, incl. forged carbon parts and everything else) is around 6.5k EUR but this requires some serious work because car parts need to be removed (my car is white, so...not easy). A colored PPF is a bit cheaper, maybe 6k EUR or so...depends on the color/design I choose.

Just received the 3M paint samples today, 3M Wrap Film Series 1380, Series 1080 and 3M Wrap Overlaminate 8900. Pretty interesting stuff but I still think I am going with a clear PPF only.

It is better not to put PPF on the front lights, because you will damage the lamp surface coating when you will remove PPF.

    Re: Paint protection film

It is my understanding that there is a special foil available now, which can be easily removed and which withstands heat very well too? I'm haven't much experience in the PPF field, so I have to trust what the PPF guy tells me. Smiley

Wasn't it because of heat cracks?

    Re: Paint protection film

Don't know why , but when I installed the PPF ( Xpel ultimate plus ) last september  on my .2 RS , the agent said Porsche has told them not to put on the front lights anymore .

It's because the PPF can remove the UV protection on the headlight if the PPF is removed.  Due to the shape of the 911 lights the PPF has to be significantly stretched when installed on the headlights.

    Re: Paint protection film

Some say that the lights might delaminate when film is removed.

I've got film on my car: I thought that if I'm lucky the film will remove nicely and the headlights will be OK.
If I don't have the film I know for sure that i still need to fix the headlights.
